This is such a broad question because there are so many things that could be different.

# Tournaments played in
League play or not
Paid coaches or volunteered (you can get good or bad either way)
How much fundraising does the team do?
Rent an indoor facility in the winter? How much does it cost?

I am sure that there is a ton more that I have not thought of....

Possibly a longer schedule? entry in better tournies? travel paid? could be a ton of reasons....

If I were a parent, I wouldn't spend time worrying about $300 or $600 or whatever. Just get with the best coach you can find. Once you have found that, the extra $300 or so is a drop in the bucket. The difference between the prices is usually uniforms or the amount and cost of tournaments.

I know of a team that charges $5,000, not including travel expenses. They get year-round coaching, maximum college exposure, play in all the top tournaments, etc.

For that Id save it 4-5 years and just send her to college myself.

With the $10-15K in travel expenses each year, you could also send them to grad school!

Well, I'd estimate 90% of the girls on this team do get a scholarship, but I'm sure a big part of that is they were good enough to begin with.
