Does this happen often?

Took my daughter to a tryout of this past weekend. The try-outs were for 16U/18U. After dragging my sick daughter to a 3 1/2 hour try-out the coach tells all the 16U girls - we really don't have a 16U team only an 18U right now but thanks for coming out today. If you want to come back again next weekend and try out at 18U you can do that. What? This coach was on here and another forum on Friday again promoting and advertising the 16U/18U try out and listing the 16U/18U try outs second date as of yesterday...Is this a normal happening? And what would be the reasoning behind this blatant deception? I was told this was a class organization but now wondering what class they are in!!

I hope it doesn't happen often and I'd like to think that it was just a mistake where the left hand and the right hand weren't communicating. It would be very rude to knowingly invite girls to a tryout for an organization that isn't fielding those girls' age-group.

Just a question. Was your daughter sick before try-outs or after because of it being 3 1/2 hrs long? ?Just curious as to why we as parents would drag a sick kid to anybodys try-outs in the first place. :-/ ?And no, I have no clue to what team or try-out you are talking about.

No, this shouldn't happen at all. It did seem to happen in eastern Stark Co about two years ago? I hope this isn't a repeat of the past. With the OFC & Huddle available it seems notification could have been attempted to prevent wasting parents/dd's time & money. Not to mention the other tryouts that could have been attended that planned on having a 16u team as advertised. I think it's too bad that your dd was ill, that may show her level of committment? I hope that all the girls that were there find their way to the many quality tryouts throughout the state. Maybe this organization will change their post so others don't go through the same thing next weekend.

First off - when I said "sick" I should have said "cramps and a headache!!" but that can't really stop these girls now should it!?

Not sure if it was Stark County but it is about 15 minutes east of Canton?? so it could be - not sure.

The same coach that talked to us and told us this Yesterday AFTER his 3-1/2 hour try-out is also the same one on here posting about the next 16U/18U try-out for next weekend and posted it after he told us this.

As bad as my daughter wanted to try to get on this team she would not go near them now. You are right - it does tell alot about an organization and what this tells me is not good.

My DD had wanted to go to some other try-outs but due to the time overlap had to narrow it down. She just picked the wrong one this time. 3-1/2 hour try-out was a small price to pay to head off the nightmare this could have been if we had actually joined with this organization!!

Just was curious as to how often this really does happen.

Could you please PM thebearmay or myself so we can find out if the coach made a mistake.. We don't want people posting incorrect info on the forum.
