Ejection...?

every summer you run into teams like this and unfortunately they are also present @ the college level......basically an embarrasment and dishonor to the fine sport of fast pitch....all you can do is beat them on the field, that is the true revenge and punishment for being so totally inappropriate.

Bench her at least. On one team my daughter played on, if a player threw ANYTHING ( helmet, glove, bat) in the dugout, they would be benched.

Maybe I am being over sensitive, so someone help me out here! Last night it was late in the game and our pitcher was tiring and she hit the batter. This batter was so incensed, she threw her bat like a hammer throw into her dugout's fence - luckily the on deck circle was on down the line so the on deck batter avoided a trip to the hospital - then the hit batter stared down our pitcher and started towards her as though she was going to run up and take her out! This team was a problem from the first pitch, the first base coach being tossed the inning before because he didn't understand what an infield fly rule meant. What should the umpire done with this batter...? ;&

4 yrs Years ago , in a REC Game ,My DAughter was Tossed for throwing he bat into the Ground after Striking out... And being scolded for Not running to 1st as the Catcher had dropped the ball on strike 3. She kind of half slammed it in to the dirt no where near the dugout ... was still tossed , I thought at the time she could have been warned ( i was coaching 3rd base) He tossed me for just asking If he maybe should have warned her ( I was gonna bench her anyway for a few Innings). My Bench coach had ran to the Field to protest ( DD was our SS..on a Very Good Rec team ) he was tossed and our 1st baseman Mom was also tossed, at he same time . Quick fuse by Umpire but ... She never threw the Bat in anger again.

Lesson learned!

Oh....Yeah !! In the end gotta give "some" Kudos to the Umpire. Though the Extreme measures he took , didn't allow us to Properly Thank him. Ha Ha Ha... He should have tossed her , Explained his Action , and we would have all been like OK...I see your Point. He turned the Girl into a Martyr " Poor "SISSY" ... " She was about to have the wrath of DAD fall upon her... and was was saved by the Chaos that Ensued. But in the end She was taught a Valuable lesson. And a Lasting lesson.

Much depends on how exaggerated this all was. It sounds bad to be sure. Some people when they get hurt instinctively get mad but flinging the bat is excessive. My question would have been what did the coach do. Any decent coach would have called time immediately and either went out and spoke to the player or put the player on the bench right away. I have seen mild mannered players explode for wierd reasons sometimes it is just your day to be a mooron. Hopefully this was one of those days for the player. The fact that one of the coaches was tossed earlier and they probably didnt even admonish the player means most likley they have no control over their team and are out of control themselves.

I Know The Player was dealt with Immediately ... But the Umpire Was So Livid , he was screaming at the Girl Incessantly to "Get Out of the Park"
( 11 yrs Old , a Few tears were being shed too). He was Drawing attention to himself ... so when the I merely asked if Ejection was absolutely necessary , that "she was getting benched Anyway." The bat was a half hearted flip with the Eye Roll... certainly enough to Get the Bench for a good chunk of innings (It was in the 2nd inning) . So , The Manager (Me) was tossed... and the other 2 were tossed within 30 seconds. He lost it... It was reviewed by the Athletic Club and The Umpire was reprimanded. I had to write a letter explaining the Event and 9 of my Parents signed a letter of Protest against the Umpire for Making a Mountain out of a molehill. Not a Fun event. But like I said The player learned from it , as did we all.
