How about one thread to report what national/regional tourney your team played in , where you finished and your opinion of the event you competed in .

Laser Gray sure went deep at ASA/USA nationals -- final 4 out of 120 plus teams . well done .

Ohio Classics '98 went to ASA/USA nationals finished 13th out of 124. Still a great national with plenty of colleges in attendance. Coaches I seen Oklahoma, Oregon, Kentucky, Ohio State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Iowa, LSU, Arkansas, Iowa State, Louisville, Wisconsin, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and more I'm sure I am forgetting.

Thanks for the update and congrats on the high finish . top twenty out of 124 is very solid . way to represent ! And there are a bunch of folks down here in SEO who dont even realize recruiting goes on at 14u . We saw the same type of coach's all week in 2009

We gave the PGF Nationals in Chicago a try since we had already attended NSA and ASA nationals in the past and we wanted to see what the difference was. We weren't very happy with it and will most likely avoid it in the future. We did ok and the competition was very good but the umpiring was consistently HORRIBLE both ways, I've never seen anything like it. It was very unorganized and with all the rain delays, there was no communication from tournament director to teams. But we just couldn't get past the umpiring......it was comparable to rec umpiring and for a national event, they should have dug a little deeper for the better umps. Lesson learned. ;)

Thanks for the PGF input as we may have considered it next year. Sounds like they may have a ways to go, particularly for regional nationals.

Static '98 went to ASA/USA nationals and finished 49th. We had hoped to break into the top 50. The event was ran super clean and very well other than the dreadful seeding meeting.

I personally spoke one on one with Oregon, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Missouri State, Illinois, LSU, Northwestern, and Texas A&M.

The attendance this year was very good IMO. As Matt stated, I also saw others but have slipped them from memory and even saw some smaller schools there. Even deeper into the week which surprised me.

Oregon was there for mainly 2017's. My coaches and I spoke with him for about 15 minutes about various subjects and he was very open to helping. He said they are FOR SURE focusing on PGF events and Nationals (head coach for Oregon and their program) in California and that the ASA Gold and ASA/USA events are still important but not getting the same filter as the PGF program. Basically, less prestige. Not that we have a shot at any of the super high end programs, I'm just passing along the conversation with them since his ear was open.

Now, for the upper teams looking to build strong schedules... does Lasers and GAPSS have the same luster it used to? I bring this up for those that have been there and then played it this year and some of the comments I've gotten are mixed. I will say that Stingrays was absolutely strong from start to finish and would love to get back in next year. We'll see about our other events for next year and as always, hope is a good thing in this wonderful sport.

I applaud Lasers Gray, Classics, and Nitro! They did so well and make us other OHIO teams very proud. Such an awesome thing to network like us 98's have since really 11u and some at 10u and it's working! Keep up the mission to make each team better all year long... it DOES make a difference when it comes to playing at Nationals. As stated many times on this forum, hosting high end freindlies is where its at and we can thank those that stole that plan from the Cali teams and southern teams. We just need to steal that stuff sooner! Again, congrats to you guys! It's been one heck of a fun season!!!!

Fun note... my step daughter led off 2nd to last game we played with a home run over CF fence while one of choice schools sat and watched (Northwestern) and then her 2nd at bat tripled over the OF's head... what a perfect set of timing and not bad for a '99! Again, timing is everything.
