I have friends whose daughters have played for Explosive and they have stayed for several years. They like the organization and the way it is run. These are smart, intelligent people who know the game.

Is it possible that the coach doesn't feel the team can compete in anything higher than D level? With three 6 year olds on a 10u team, I would assume it's more of a rec style team anyway.
I'm not implying anything, just a question.

Snowman...of course the can't compete. They will be lucky to get out of the first inning. The point is they were set up to fail, and fail big. They took our money and left us in a ridiculous situation. They do not deliver what they promised, at least in the case of this team.

My daughter has stayed with the same group of girls for several years. If that were to fall apart, I wouldn't hesitate for her to try out for an Explosive team. Honestly, any organization is only as good as the coaches it gets. If you have good coaches, your teams are going to thrive. In your situation, though, putting 6 year olds on a 10 year old team just doesn't sound like a good plan, regardless of how good the little ones are. I have a 6 year old and she's a tough little player, but she is in no way ready for travel even though she's been around the ball fields her entire life.

Regardless of promises and the reputation of an organization, I would NEVER pay 1000 for a 6 year old to play ANY where. Or buy a $400 composite bat..

By the time I found out it was too late
It's never too late. If you are upset, it's time you find DD another team. I know you are out $1000 but why use that as a reason to keep torturing yourself and your DD?

Welcome to "travel ball"...
My family and I live in Navarre (south of Massillon) and my DD plays for Cincy Doom Gold....4 hrs away. You'll come to find out, there's a team for everyone, sometimes your gonna have to make the sacrifice and travel for trave ball.

Thx for the positive advice. It's a very expensive lesson. In money and a year of nearly completely lost experience. I'll move on, but I wanted to warn others of the potential for a ruined experience.

Am I reading this correctly? Kindergarteners in 10U? How is this safe? They would be playing with 4th and 5th graders.

You're reading correctly. It's not even so much that they are kindergateners...the completion is 4th rate.

If anyone could have suggested this was possible, I would have laughed. My girl isn't elite, however she is a good player. I thought with some experience and upscale coaching it would be worthwhile. Like I said caveat emptor. She is 10 with room to grow, but we lost a year. That's so much more important than the money. But I can't get the year back. Honestly I never ever thought this could happen. When you don't know where to start and what qs to ask....like I said expensive lesson. Maybe someone else might not do what I did.
