Ricky Fielders Choice, Conversion Table nothing but a numbers game.

After Coaching Girls Fastpitch Softball for 6 years I made myself a pocket Conversion Table. I would occasionally update the numbers in the table over my Coaching career, if I notice a flaw in my Original Math. But over all the original conversion table hardly changed any over the next 16 years.

It took me about two years of gathering data to complete.

Since I spent more time at the ball diamonds scouting teams and players for strength and weakness. It was very easy to compile the data to complete my conversion table.

The one really nice thing about my conversion table, once I had a few numbers on a player. I could use this as my guild during the game.

When I first started gathering the data the only thing I was looking at, was a simply way to come up with my own play conversion chart. But over time it became so much more.

I guess you could have done the same thing without timing the plays. I mean most good Girl's Fastpitch Softball Coaches can watch a players fielding and throwing to a base and see if she Solid, Average or fundamental weak at her present position on the softball diamond.

But even thought I felt we had a solid team the could win against any team we faced. I also knew my teams and players weaknesses. And by using my conversion table it help me as a Girls Fastpitch Coach squeeze everything I could out of my teams defense.

I don't recall, once my team(s) we're playing at the higher level. That we every lost a single game by more then two run.

In fact most of are games were pure defense in action. And most the teams we faced were the same.

I will write about the longest game my team every played it was a 2-2 ball games for 18 innings. But I will write about that game later and when I do you will find out who won the game. But the reason I bring that game up now, it was pure defense from both teams. And it turn out to be, my most favor game in girls Fastpitch that I ever Coached.

Well now that I'm off topic, it seems like I do that allot. So let me get back to Ricky conversion table.

What I wanted to do with input from the forum members, is rebuild my conversion table again. I guess maybe I should explain what kind of information is needed in order to get the numbers that are needed.

The formula I used can still be used today.

Here what I'm trying to collects numbers on.

Everything is based on the girls position on the field from the time the balls hit.

So if my 3rd baseman is playing close to 3rd base bag. And the ball hit on the ground to 3rd baseman how much time does it take for her to field, throw the ball to 1st base or 2nd base to record the out.

Example of above

H + 3rd Base Bag + T + 1st = 2.50 seconds
Or
H + 3rd base up 10 feet + T + 1st= 2.35 seconds

By using this fuzzy math I was able to build my play time conversion table.

So forum can you help me out?
