For the girls?

Our high school Varsity softball team was leading 5-1 with 2 outs remaining in the last league game of the season when play was suspended due to bad weather. With that win, they would share 2nd place in their league. This is a program that has had seasons with only 1 or 2 wins all year. Our AD and principal decided that they do not need to finish the game because "it isn't for 1st place." Sorry girls, 2nd place does not mean anything.

Sit down and think to yourself what you are outraged about..........getting recognition for sharing 2nd place in your league. Focus on getting out of Districts. That means a whole lot more than tying for 2nd in league. And no one remembers who finished 2nd let alone if it was a tie. It is just not worth all this effort.

Our HS puts themselves in a league where they are lucky to finish 3rd in Baseball and girls Basketball. And both programs won State Titles last year. Get a Districts banner. It will mean way more.

If you knew our program, then you would know that these girls would remember the year they finished 2nd rather than last. We had at least one starter who had never played softball before this year.

That is a shame.......Our baseball senior night was cancelled several times because of all the rain and out coach searched high and wide to finally find someone to play so he could honor the seniors tonight. Too bad someone can't do something to finish that game so the girls can enjoy the feeling

Am I missing something? If there were only 2 outs remaining in the game and the game was called, wouldn't it be an official game anyway?

I was thinking this exact same thing. If it is last inning then its game over and leading team gets the win......

I disagree. It sounds like the girls really put alot into it all season and scratched their way up from what could have been a horrible year. They deserve to finish the battle!! I would have been VERY disappointed if we came from a not so good year to maybe win 2nd and they wouldn't let us finish because it isn't first. It sounds like it is kind of a slap in the face to the girls. How'd you like to play in a tournament as an under dog, fight your way all the way to the semi finals and them say...well, we aren't going to play your game because it isn't the championship. Just sayin.....we try to preach not collecting hardware, but they can't finish a game because it isn't for 1st place?????
