It's something allright! My older daughter started in fp and moved to slowpitch later. She was the best hitter and fielder, needless to say.

My 13yo pitcher was watching this with me and said "Dude, seriously, how hard is it to adjust?" I love her. :lmao:

Lol ... that is awesome ...

Having been an ex-slowpitch player myself, let me just say that you won't see me stepping the box anytime soon! Now, there actually is an adjustment going the other direction as well ... I would say that should take a full 3 or 4 pitches. :)

The truly funny part is that neither guy even tried to adjust! LOL

I played at a fairly high level of slow pitch, and id have to say they are 2 completely different sports with the only thing in common is the word "softball". I would compare it more to baseball than slow pitch.

This reminds me of myself in the batting cages when dd first started playing fastpitch, and I told her let me show you how it's done. Old man probs.

That was an awesome video. I had been a slowpitch junkie for 30 + years until my GD started to play fastpitch.....whole new game. Those guys sure looked sad and they are top level slowpitch dudes. WOW, they will never live that down.

I have played against Brett and Wegs and they are 2 of the best in the Majors. Most of them have a baseball background as well, but still can't adjust . Having caught for my DD and her instructor who is an ex Racer's pitcher, I have total respect for these girls/women who stay in there and hit that stuff.

I took the cage about a month ago at practice... 60-63mph and the machine at 35'... lit it up for 2 buckets of balls. Was even surprised by myself. Drove the back wall numerous times and had a nice natural lift on the ball. With my bad neck and back... I paid for it for about 3 weeks and for that I'm lucky. Usually it takes months to recover.

Like Nick said, both guys are almost iconic in the slow-pitch world these days. The big lefty, Brett Helmer, is a national sales rep for Easton Sports. I guarantee you that he had the utmost respect walking into the box for the skill level of these young ladies.

Both are also co-owners in the former Eggleston Park in Cincinnati near Rumpke. I think their park is the overflow park for a couple of Rumpke's bigger FP events.

I would like to see the video of Jenny Finch whiffing Albert Pujols and a couple of others at the All Star break a couple of years back. From what I hear they didn't even foul tip one single pitch she threw.

Not trying to be a jerk, but it's just not the same. Machine comes in without the movement of the live pitch.

no doubt and point understood for sure... just had fun and after all this time of coaching it I had to know what I could do even in my broken down body. Movement... need a Hack Attack Machine to test that one... it's on my list of things to add to softball goodies. And still nothing can replace the human abilities of manipulating a batter. Never will...
