CONGRATULATIONS TO THE OHIO DANGER FOR BEING GREAT CHAMPIONS IN THE GAPSS TOURNAMENT!!!! The Danger came up from relatively deep in the loser's bracket to take two in a row from Buckeye Heat '95 (6-5, Danger scored winning run in bottom of 7th; 6-1, Danger jumped on top early). What a plucky team to play so many games on one day and still retain intensity for championship play.
Heat was of course disappointed that it couldn't carry through the momentum from that Lasers Silver game, which really played out as the kind of low-score fastpitch game that is more associated with the flights for older young ladies. Building on wins and maintaining intensity and form is now high on our list of goals. Regardless, the coaches are extremely proud of these girls, especially for their conduct during the GAPSS tournament. Finding a better group of girls to coach would be difficult indeed.
I didn't get to meet as many OFCers as I would have liked because the 12U's played at a separate location. PM me if you think you might be able to make a Saturday dinner at the Stingrays tourney. If we have enough, I'll make reservations for a big group at someplace like Eddie George's.
Finally, kudos to the TD's and their volunteers Communication was great and it was a relief to play so many competitive games after so many rainouts in the past few weeks. I hope that next year this tourney doesn't conflict with NSA states, as I'm sure many teams would have preferred to have both tournaments on their schedules. The GAPPS folks now have several tourney years under their belts and it really shows.
