14u Roadwarriors went 5-1-1 great job this weekend ladies, falling short in the semi-final platinum bracket.

Excellent ran tournament and the umpiring was the best we have come across this season. Blazers 02 went 5-2 losing to the Ohio County Cannons in the championship game in the Platinum Bracket.

Umpiring: Agreed overall pretty good. Had one pretty bad, but you'll come across that (heck, guy was set-up and ready and we had to stop and tell him to put his mask on lol). Never seen any 1 ump games as was an issue earlier this year, 2 blues on every game plus 3 for the finals.

Tournament: Format is fine, 5 games in pool play, we ended up playing 9 games so love that part.
We was in 16u, didn't see as many college coaches as we may like, but it isnt a premier showcase and 4th was on the weekend. (by early Sat afternoon coaches were gone).

Facility and upkeep: Needs a major change, or something to get the Dayton gang on board. Potential with the number of fields and locations for this to be a great host location, but fields are NOT taken care of. Drug and lined (poorly) to start the day, never touched again. Even the initial dragging was bad, some diamonds worse than others. Our Sunday morning diamond had 4-6 inch deep waves through the infield, wasn't even a consideration to send the girls out on it. Field crew told us that was best they could do with equipment they had. We requested a rake so we could work out the waves best we could, they only had ONE (? seriously?) rake at the main diamonds (16-20) and it was being used somewhere else. TD finally involved and tractor brought out and re-drug...better than before at least.

Folks, having a diamond in reasonable condition to play a game safely is NOT an option. It is a must. If you don't have the resources to get that job done, better find it, and find it quickly. And if the host location won't support that, find a new location.
