I think that all of the match-ups will be excellent and the weather looks perfect for today. This has to be one of the best collection of teams playing anywhere in the state this weekend.

Best of luck to everyone and I look forward to seeing you out at Stebbins Field.

Good to see you there today coach Herman. It was indeed some excellent softball all around.

BTW Greenville pitcher Jordyn Fisherback threw 11 perfect innings today (4 against Akron, and 7 against Lebanon) and has only allowed 1 hit on the season.

Yes, Jordan is the real deal, But I think it's important to note that she has an incredible supporting staff. You all have done things up right. I can quickly see that this is a complete community effort.

From the Ohio Wave organization feeding into the high school, to the parents that are all helping out. I think the best thing is the freshman class that has been added to the team this year. K Martin and the catcher Tabby, I believe. They are great additions.

Kudo's out there for Chelsey from Kings. Their #1 pitcher was not there due to ACT"S. Chelsey gutted out two games with a severely hurt back. She showed incredible Senior leadership for her team. I know they won their first game against Celina, not sure what they did in their 2nd game.

Centerville is by far the most improved team. Coach Martin owes a big thanks to his parents for getting those girls into select ball. You can clearly see that has benefited his program. They will be a team to be recogned with in the future.

Thanks Scott, it is definately a community effort. Success breeds success and the younger players have seen some fantastic players come thru here over the past 5 years and they set the bar very high. Countless All-State players, and whats great to see is how often they get back to watch their team play and support the new generation of players.

BTW, the catchers name is Paige Wolter and she earned the starting catchers spot over a very solid Junior and a strong senior (both who caught last year) and she is the real deal. The freshman starting SS is one of those players who come along once in a great while. Her talent is so natural and she makes the game look easy. She has the ability to completely re-write all of the offensive records in our high schools history. Along with the other 4 freshman they will be the foundation for a long time to come.

Good luck next week.

Just to clarify a few things on Fisherback....she never played for the Ohio Wave organization or even the "Greenville Community" until the move this year for high school and she will continue to play summer ball out of Cincinnati.

Would love to see St.Mary's and Greenville.

Has Tipp City played Greenville this season - I thought they did.

Lebanon has a nice team, good pitcher (Cambell?)

The cross-sectional games would really have a good impact around the state,
especially within divisions 1 and 2

Maybe....
St.Marys vs Akron Hoban
Greenville vs Elyria
Tipp City vs Talmadge
Grove City vs Holland Springfield
Hudson vs Teays Valley
Anthony Wayne vs Massillon Perry
Massillon Jackson vs Gahanna

I am not that familiar with D3, but Lakewood looks awful good.

Where is the confusion coming from? There is no doubt that she plays for one of the best 16u teams in the state. The OFC Heat Orange is going to be an excellent team. They have some of the best players in the state.

The credit goes to the Ohio Wave Organization for building a program that has fed into the High School program quite nicely. Kind of think about it, it has helped several of the local high school teams.

Jordan Fiserback can't take a team to the state by herself. Jordan Fisherback + "A Team " along with strong community support will breed success and possibly a trip to the state and beyond.

After reading back threw the posts I don't see where anyone stated that Fisherback played for any of the Ohio Wave teams and as far as I know she has never played community summer ball there either. It is pretty well known that Fisherback plays for OFC 16U (Orange) with her partner in crime K. Locker to form a dynamic due and she loves it.

Scott, your comments are right on the money. While the Ohio Wave fastpitch program has some players who play on the High School team the majority of players in the 14U age group and up is made up of players from outside of Greenville. In the same respect we have a number of players in the 14U agegroups and above from the Greenville area that play for other organizations around the Miami Valley. One point thats clear is this, every player that is on the Varsity team is playing travel ball at a high level somewhere and that definately helps. The community support here is unreal and it has been for the past 6 years.

While I personally am proud of the Greenville High School accomplishments over the years I take the same amount of pride in watching players from all over who play for the summer program have great success with their own High Schools. Being able to watch these players develop over the years and then help make their HS's better is awesome. Ansonia comes to mind as 4 or five of their starters have played with Ohio Wave teams over the years and they are one of the top D4 teams in the state and primed to make another strong run this year.

I think the confusion comes from the fact that both are based out of the same town. I think it's a misconception that all Greenville players play or have played for the Ohio Wave. In past this was more the case but the Wave has grown in the past few years to include players from many schools. In fact our 12U team has only one player that attends Greenville.

Billykuskowski I would have loved to see the Greenville vs. St. Marys match-up as well.

To answer your question Greenville and Tipp City did play in an excelent scrimmage game (more like a playoff atmosphere) the Friday before the season started and it was an awesome match-up between Fisherback & Locker (summer team mates). Greenville prevailed 1-0 and Fisherback alomost threw a perfect game allowing only a final inning 1 out BB. I don't think that one ball left the infield against her.

Thank you OhioWave for the update. The better the competition, the better the team becomes. Looks as if Greenville ducks no one and it will pay off in the end!
