Greenville High School honored by NFCA

The coaching staff of Greenville High School was recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as the top staff in the North Region which is made up of 10 states. Greenville was actually second in the voting for the award for national high school coaching staff.

Coming off thier DII state championship in 2007 Greenville finished with a record of 31 and 4. During coach Newland's 5 years in Greenville the team has compiled a 128 - 27 record including three straight district final apperances in the first three years, a regional apperance in 2006 before finishing on top in 2007 with wins over Akron Hoban (6-4) and St. Mary's (1-0) at the state tournament.

Coach Newland recieved the award at the NFCA national confrence this week in Las Vegas on behalf of the school. The rest of the coaches on the staff include: Beth Arnold, John Davis, and Carol Paul. More then 800 college, Jr college, and high school coaches were in attendance.

Greenville moves back to D-I for the 2008 season and they are excited about the upcoming season. With appreances scheduled at the Wendy's, East of Chicago, and the Champions tournament in Loudonville the road will not be an easy one.
