Through the years I can't remember so many Ohio teams being so successful at national events. Lasers Purple, Blue, Green.. Stingrays 05, OH Thunder 18U, Roadrunners 05... I'm leaving some off just off the top of my head, feel free to add the teams below. My point is, it seems to me that top Ohio teams are consistently in it until the end at National/ regional events. Seems to me 2016 was the best post season ever.

Great job everyone that represented OH!

Louuu, I think he meant PGF Nationals,They are the toughest, probably a better measure of our national success.Taking nothing away from our Ohio teams ASA successes.Believe a different approach needed for success there.

Don't forget Lasers Black. They had a good showing at ASA Nationals finishing 9th and being the last Ohio team standing.

No.

He meant why in the blue hell does anyone leave Ohio so they can play the "good" teams?

They're all here.

Won't matter though. Some 10u coach will take their team to Colorado, Tennessee, Georgia, Missouri, and Illinois. And people are lining up to pay for it.

Wow, you must be miserable if you can't acknowledge others accomplishments because it threatens your ego. I love the passive/ aggressiveness.

I don't care if it was ASA, PGF, USSSA... The point was completely missed. BTW what Ohio teams finished high in PGF??
If a group of 10 year olds wins a tournament at Disney I am sure, or certainly hope, they don't take a single second to think about how some adults rank them. Good god

Blahahahahahahaha!

Hey, I'm really sorry I didn't congratulate a hypothetical group of 10 year olds.

My bad.

Word! Lasers Orange-Central Ohio Ice-Team Ohio-Sundogs took top 4 at 16U A ASA Eastern Nationals in Wilminington DE. .....BOOM the O-H-I-O chant was rocking the Jersey Shore. This success reflects the hard work and dedication to softball of the players, coaches, and families in our state. KUDOS

Several Ohio teams did very well at PGF Midwesterns in Peoria IL also.

Lasers White won 14u, Ohio Thunder 2nd 16u red bracket, Ohio Outlaws Premier 2nd 16u blue, several other Ohio teams had strong showings over the tournament as well.

Yep.

Every other state on the map is where you've gotta be though.

Find people who like to dry the kool aid up with 100 dollar bills and keep on trucking.

Mike is as sarcastic as ever, but I have to agree that you could play alot of good teams and never leave the state. You can also get seen by alot of college coaches and never leave the state, obviously depends on where, and if, you want to play college ball. If that's what your team goals are, then great, if you want to travel and see the country while expanding Ohio softball, great also.

I personally love to hear our local Ohio teams get out there and get after it, not for everyone though and not the only way to enjoy the sport also.

You could stay with in an hour or so for most teams and still find great competition and out of state teams. Many more Ohio tournaments are drawing out of state teams from all over, which is a testament to those orgs and teams that push the envelope to make out of state teams want to come play here.

So its all good, there is a team and schedule for all.

My DD is on Purple and nobody can tell me the competition in ASA Nationals in College Station Texas wasn't good. Outstanding players from all over the country. Yes there were some local and younger teams battling in the Tournament too. However, there were Tons of DI commits, going to the SEC and many other places. Commits were playing against future teammates. It was awesome softball all around. To win Nationals takes: Luck, Skill and fantastic umpires. I know Purple struggled with the bats in the first bracket game. After that, timely hitting and great Pitching kept us around. A great time was had by all. However, I would not recommend going through the losers bracket to get there.... Love those Purple players and the grit they showed.

PGF is just another organization promising more. And delivering nothing new. Until there is a single National in a central location or something more accessible, forget it. It just creates arguments. PGF is just selling themselves more aggressively. If you were on the West Coast, wouldn't you want to avoid flying to the midwest for a National?

This was truly a great year for Ohio teams to show how they stack up against some of the top teams in the country. I think Mike's post was somewhat misinterpreted ... I don't think his point was to take away anything from the teams who did travel, but more to make his ongoing point that you don't have to travel outside of the immediate area to play great teams and/or have exposure to college coaches. Any team that can place highly in an ASA/USA national or a tourney like Atlanta Legacy, and any team that can win an ASA or PGF regional "nationals" is outstanding. Ohio travel ball continues to put itself on the map and we're seeing more and more Ohio players on some of the top college teams in the country, so we can all be proud!

I'll throw out a few thoughts , might offend some , might not . I hope not , its not my intent to cast any thing negative on what sanction someone chose to play, or where any particular team finished this year or in past years . I'd say the opportunity to crown a true national champ passed in about 2010 , give or take a year . Up until then ASA/USA drew the very best from coast to coast . No one was staying home to play any other sanction . After that the crowd got thinned out quite a bit and winning a natl' title from either PGF or ASA/USA got somewhat easier . Simply because most or all of Ca has decided to go PGF and that removed big roadblocks to any team outside of Ca winning a USA/ASA national title . Likewise it eased the competition in PGF for the Ca teams as well. Now lots of tremendous teams decide to play another sanction either out of loyalty to ASA or avoid flying across the country and incurring huge travel expense. That doesnt mean the game or the teams are watered down or anything of the such, simply the best teams have 2 choices to compete at the top as opposed to one . And that makes winning the event easier for both. Interesting but the 2 teams in the 16u final at PGF were mid western teams , Bandits and South Dakota Renegades .

To get back closer on topic I'd be hard pressed to say the Lasers ever had a better showing than this year. I've been around 10-11 years and dont recall them , or Ohio having such overall success . It really was a banner year. Winning a PGF and ASA , either regional or the national event is high level stuff . Even to come close means you have some serious ballers . Congrats to all who did Ohio proud .

I don't know I think I'd take the 300 plus coaches at PGF..
