Just wondering if the boys teams in Ashland have a diamond? . ?It seems in the Zanesville area boys teams get first pick of diamonds and practice times. ?We have wonderful diamonds at Riverside but teams must pay to use them and men's and co-ed slowpitch teams get first pick of schedule.

I am surprised that this is so shocking to most of you. Most fields in NW Ohio requires payment. Rolf Park owned by the City of Maumee, Lucas County Rec. Center, Toledo City fields all require some payments. It doesn't mean that you can't get on it without payment, but it would not be an authorized use and you would have to vacate it if an "authorized user" showed up.
Just because a facility is owned by the local government does not entitle taxpayers to use it free of charge. I would guess that most swimming pools, ice skating rinks and other recreational facility always charge a fee.

But remember, most of those other things you mentioned have major expenses and a staff to support. A ball field, especially in the fall, is just sitting there unused, and it costs them nothing to have us use it for a few hours.

Quit bellyaching and quit bashing Ashland. If there are that many free fields out there, find one and use it
