High number of homeruns

There are very, very few "elite" pitchers out there that absolutely dominate at 43ft- the ones that do are the ones that have both speed & movement and can change speeds and spot pitches.

I would also say that with the popularity of the sport comes more and more kids taking hitting lessons and focusing on strength and conditioning producing better hitters.

The once "great" pitchers at 40ft are not so great at 43ft

The fastball pitchers are getting tee'd up. The 53-54 mph pitchers that throw junk are facing better hitters that are trained to go with the pitch and identify the pitch early.

We even see this in college- not just high school. I'm looking for the stat but I believe this has been a great year for homeruns in college as well.

I agree it's more the increase in quality instruction. Girls are focusing more on proper technique and hand path, and religiously work on the outside, inside, and pitches up in the zone. The days of going to the cage with dad and hitting grapefruits seem to be over. I'm not seeing everyone's batting average increase, or an increase in everyone's power numbers. I do see the girls who are working their butts off reaping the rewards.
