You have to consider that the private schools do have the advantage to bring in better qualified coaches to run there programs. If a coach doesn't work out they are politely asked to leave or bring in help to the program. Also at private schools Ihave seen many people volunteer their time , bring in experienced friends to help at that particular sport. At public schools I believe the system has to rely more on the teacher pool for coaches, and outsiders are percieved to be stepping on their turf. So , yes private schools are more attractive to a serious student and student athlete.
