True story about hotel discounts:

A couple years ago, I was out of town on a college softball trip. I had already booked my room online for the whole period, but another dad was doing the "day-by-day" thing - with no prior reservation.

We were standing at the check-in and he asked what my room cost me. They quoted him a quite higher rate. When he asked why the room was much more expensive, the clerk told him "online booking is discounted". So... he turned around and walked over to the "courtesy internet workstation" off the lobby, booked a room through their website, walked back to the desk and checked in - - - Go figure... his room was now cheaper than mine!!
