I should know this answer, but I don't. All of these tryouts going on, how do you know what positions they're looking for for next season? Don't want to waste time if they already have 4 pitchers!
The really big question is if the number 1 pitcher is the head coaches daughter and the number 2 pitcher is the assisant coaches daughter. Your DD could be Jenny Finch on Steroids and still ride the pine.I should know this answer, but I don't. I know that my co-coach, Mark Skapin and I have stated on our tryout thread what we will be looking for as of right now for the Madness Red which will be a older 14u team next season. Once we have completed nationals, we will set down and discuss where we are sitting overall and then adjust our needs accordingly. (Love not having any players I am related to on the team. . .makes the politics a mute point.)
Many times coaches really don't know what they needs will be for the next season until the current season is over and they talk to their players to determine what directions they will be going in for the next season. Hard to post until you have the information in hand. Sometimes that doesn't occur until tryouts. JMHO
ask...I'll tell you.
bad thing is, truthfully, most of the teams already know who they want...not to bust a bubble or anything

Many teams are going to 11u/13u/15u teams so they can find a group of girls, develop them and grow as a team. They don't want to deal with losing half their team every year because of age, and start the whole process over every year. So most teams might lose one or two and need to replace them.I don't necessarily agree with girls being given roster spots from year to year. I would rather think of it as EVERY position is up for grabs during tryouts and if a new girl shows me in tryouts that she is better than a returning player then I would take her and let them compete in practice for the starting position. Granted most coaches have a soft spot for returning players because we know what to expect from that player, but there is still something to be said for every girl to earn her position on the team, returning player or not. not busting a bubble but rather speaking the truth....I see very good teams posting for all positions open when in reality two to three spots are already gone because that is their kids spot...then you add those players that are really good at their spot leaving only one or two spaces available because someone leaves or they already know who they want in that spot
me really just dislike it because they are wasting peoples time and putting the hopes of a young girl down the drain but guess that is the name of the game
