katejoebenmom that is why I have my 16 year old DD playing 18 gold. I wasn't sure there would be enough competition. Hope the rest of the teams give you guys tougher games.

This is kind of a side note or tangent.... how many think that fallball will benefit their DD? My DD says it is a waste of time. I like her to play so that she keeps her skills up and can work on other parts of her game. What do you think? :-/ :-/

What's to waste? ? It's a total win-win situation.
I know that they probably don't actually learn anything after the first Fall they play, but what else would she be doing? ? Sitting around the house, talking on the phone, watching tv, complaining there was nothing to do.
How can being outside and getting together with her friends (doing something they enjoy) be a waste?
I say---it's ALL good!!!

Any time my DD can get on a softball field whether it's Spring, Summer, or Fall, she never considers it a waste of time. Last weekend- 70 and sunny with her friends, making new friends, having fun and working on their skills- PERFECT! That's what fall ball is all about!!

DD is playing in the Grand Slam league in Westerville. This is her first time in it & she is loving it. She was so nervous being a freshman & playing in the high school league after playing 14U this summer, but the coach & other girls were great. It's been a huge boost of confidence even though they didn't do as well this Sunday as the first weekend. Her confidence is boosted & she is having fun. Best of all, she only started out knowing 2 of the girls & has now made many new friends.

I have a team that will play 16u next summer, we're playing the 18u in NWO Fall Ball. We had a couple of good games this weekend. It's a great place for the girls to work on different pitches, or hiiting away if they normally slap, or bunting, or whatever without the pressure of failure. It's 6 short weeks that they can enjoy the company of the other girls and share with each other what's going on in their lives. Homecoming dances are sure to be a popular topic for a couple of weeks. My dd has issues with the softball tan and the homecoming dress. LOL

Looking forward to this weekend in NWO. Had to go to the Tribe games on Saturday and Sunday. I missed the fallball games. The weather is going to be great and I can't wait.

Hey Phantoms...are you guys playing in the Pinnacle Fall Ball league??? ?If so, we play you on Saturday at 12:00. ?My dd plays on the Pinnacle Red 14U team! ?(She's the big, awesome pitcher with more junk than you can imagine) ?LOL! ?(I may have exaggerated that a bit for intimidation purposes)

Cool! ?You're right, we played eachother in week #1. ?Do you coach? ?I'm assuming your team travels together through the year? ?Our pinnacle team is made up of girls from all over, who never even met eachother until the first fall ball game! ?There are 3 travel ball girls on the team (they all play for us, Mid Ohio Thunder) and the rest are all rec ball girls. ?It's been interesting so far, that's for sure. ?The pinnacle's primary objective is to give each girl equal time to play, no matter what level their at. ?We use fall ball as practice time for our dd, but I'm seeing it become more and more competitive. ?I think next year we'll have to put our travel team in the mix. ?I see you also play the Nordonia Lady Knights this week. ?Its obvious these girls travel together as well. ?The catcher is quick and has a good arm. ?Don't underestimate her! ?Good luck and see you Saturday!

You can't go wrong with Fall Ball. ?The weather is generally perfect, sunny with cooler temperatures. ?I agree that it is definately another growing trend in softball. ?I have a feeling it will be much bigger next year, and the year after. ?Glad everyone is having fun.

I know here in NWO we had 900 players last year. I am not sure of the exact total this year because they couldn't get as many fields as they did last year. It still has to be quite a large number.
