First time for this one. No new inning after 65, drop dead revert back after 75min. (Rain cancelled games on Friday, so trying to get all pool games in on Sat) We are losing 5-0, come back 5-4 bases loaded one out in 4th?. Ump gets call on cell phone in the 3rd saying immediately go to 60min drop dead. Would have been nice to know dontcha think. Time up game over we lose. leave bases loaded without a chance. Oh Joy!

That's grounds for getting tossed, for a few games. How in the world can you make a changes like that "intra-game" ....

Never been a fan of drop dead rule explicitly because of late rallies. I think that any changes should be known before the coin toss. We all have to adjust for bad weather. It is just not fair to wait that far into the game to let anyone know of the changes.

There should have at least been some communication before the game started, not during the game. Thats just wrong.

Changing the game format before the game starts, due to bad weather or such, is okay, as well to be expected in softball.

Changing the game format after the game starts- and is almost over- is a poor policy that is sure to tick off the participants.

If receiving a phone call with a few minutes left, and considering the score, as the umpire I would plead my case to the TD to let the game finish as scheduled. He might overrule that, but I would try my hardest!

If I knew that umpires answered their cell phones during games, I would just call in my complaints from the bench and save the walk.

we had to play a game of "chess" using the drop dead rule and the "reverts" back score. Literally had a girl stand on the third base path and the catcher walked up to her... my baserunner stood there for about 5 seconds, the catcher holds the ball confused and didn't know if she should tag her or throw the pitcher. I had instructed my base runner to never come back to the 3rd base bag and never move towards home or anything. That was 2 outs... .then... my DD gets up and I tell her to pull her head and swing very badly regardless. The other coach said "throw it in the dirt"... I'm LMAO and he could have taken the 20 second delay and ate up enough time but didn't. We won cause my DD struck out on 3 pitches... Our score counted in time. Hate that dumb rule! No way to play. My parents were as confused as a newborn baby in a famous kind of bar...

Same basic thing happened to us In Min. Ridge. STUPID RULE PERIOD ! Finish the Inning !!! It wasn't designed to be like this.

We had this almost happen to us! The ump told the TD that there are 2 outs and 2 strikes on the batter, TD said stop the game. Blue went ahead and let us finish and we got the win. Blue was told he could go on home that he wasnt needed the rest of the day. Ouch

Yea Les! That's the way to be. BTW you need to change your sig to 11u.

ALL coaches should only play tournaments that DO NOT have a drop dead rule and will have TWO umpires working each game. Anything else is stuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuupid! Rec league excluded.
