So many times you hear about horror stories with teams and coaches. Let's hear the good things!

Lady Knights - Galligher's Field of Dreams (GFOD), Mid Ohio Lady Bullets, and Buckeye Heat teams. Always struck a good balance between keeping a core together and making teams better. Dedicated, taught the game, and had fun all at the same time.

While tryouts aren't our favorite time of the year, we are thankful we met some really neat coaches and orgs, we went to three tryouts and were impressed by all. All gave great feedback and it seemed they were all in it for the right reasons. Our little one (04) was fortunate.

I would like to say thanks to all coaches at all ages. They do not get enough thanks for donating their time to help our daughters play what they love. We have had nothing but postive experiences. Thank you Coach Anderson for opening the door to my daughter for travel ball, and thank you for her current Coack Hawks for the continued journey.

That is something I have seen more this year is kids coming up to coaches and telling them thanks after practice and tournaments and I think that says a lot about those kids.

Ohio Ice and Chuck Short....even after my girls are done playing for him, they are welcomed to practice with him at anytime.

Coach Tony...younger daughter played for him during High school senior year...he took time to practice with my daughters to prepare Sydney for her walkon tryout for upcoming season. He truly is a Coach...

Rob Bateman is very knowledgeable about the game and very fair and honest when talking to parents and players about where they stand and what they do - both positive and negative - and does it without coming across as condescending Is great with dealing with the players and parents and has no drama issues because he has players who have issues with others on the team talk them out before practice - or the next game at a tournament - even begins.
He truly is a softball coach and one I am glad my DD got to play for.

Thanks for the replies! As we all know summer ball can be a gamble. Especially if you start with a new team. This past summer my daughter played for the 16U Wizards and had a great experience! Coach Craig was spectacular with the girls & especially my daughter. She never once ever wanted to miss a practice or a game because of the atmosphere the coach created for the team. Coach Chalfant did an awesome job!! I would recommend to any girl looking for a team!

Our family has been really fortunate with good coaches and experienced coaches. With the Wizards of Northwest Ohio, we have been honored to have daughters play for Jeff Eisenbrandt, Matt Keller, and Jamie Terry. These coaches have a wealth of experience, tolerance, calm, and personality to keep their teams happy and coming back for more. Each of these coaches is an NFCA "Master Coach" of some level and know how to teach technique, manage games and help us through recruiting.

Marion Diamonds is a fantastic organization with coaches who really care and teach. DD was a sub with Mike Waddell's team several times in 2013 and was treated great and coached up just like the rest of the team. Now she is playing full time with the Diamonds in 2015 with Chris Candel and Billy and loves the team. When she made the team another Diamonds coach told her welcome back home. DD told me after that it really does feel like home. Thank you Diamonds for caring for my daughter on and off the field. :D

My dd and I had the pleasure to meet Mike Slob before she went into her second year of tee ball, he has worked with her since, had the pleasure of playing for him on the Diamonds 04' team last year and now under him as Lasers 04'. What I know about Mike is he truly cares about this game and even more so he cares about the happiness and development of these girls. He believes in the integrity of the game and coaching it, he has done more for more girls/ families than I could ever hope to, and I know that my dd is a better ballplayer and I am a better ballplayers dad because of him. He has a vast knowledge of defensive skills, and a hitting instructor to boot, not to mention really believes in the life lessons behind all of this in the game we all love called fastpitch. With Mike, as far as my dd and I are concerned, it has been all positive. Thank you Coach Mike.

Although I have only spoken to this coach a few times over 1 tournament weekend, but yet heard about him from the 10u coaches and parents in the FAST Wizards organization, I have a very high opinion of Mike Slob from the Marion Diamonds, and now with the Lasers. Here is an email that I sent to the President of the Marion Diamonds and Mike Slob after their end of June tournament:

Mike and Phil,

Thank you for an outstanding experience this weekend. The Diamonds organization did a great job running the 8u tournament, and the Wizards organization is truly grateful.

Mike Slob made a big impression on our team and all the girls after the championship final. The kind words that he gave both teams and his "private huddle" with the girls telling them to thank their parents and coaches is unison was really cool. I really appreciated the 8u bracket on paper from Mike. I haven't received one of those since I was a college wrestler. Dave Myers from the 8u Diamonds is also a very classy guy with a nice team.

Thank you Diamonds,

Allan Abel

Having played the Buckeye Heat 99, I must agree they are very well coached - a very solid team!

My DD subbed for Coach Hecker and Marion Diamonds orange at Stingrays tourney in 2012. It was her first time for both. She was made welcome by everyone and came away with a positive memory that she will always remember. She still has the thank you card that came in mail afterwards. To this day whenever we run across eachother at a tournament he always has time to talk to her and see how she is doing and vice versa. Good coach and a class act.

Coach Hecker is one of the classiest 01 coaches, always enjoy playing his team and I have nothing but respect for him and his teams.

Alborules, your all too modest. I have heard nothing but nice things said about you by other coaches and parents of girls you have coached. You are always looking to improve your knowledge and philosophies of the game. Keep up the good you are doing for the sport. That goes for you also ?ber Jones.
