The girls. Who wants it more?
The parents, are they willing to sacrifice to help those girls achieve?
The coaches and their ability to bring it out of those girls.

If those last 2 are all completely focused on those girls who want it the most, that team will have it clicking in all facets of the game.

Because they are equally talented, I have to assume that takes care of all physical aspects of the game, such as who is going to work harder on their games. Therefore, my answer is...

1. Coaches who can figure out the best lineup.
2. Coaches and players who understand basic game strategy.
3. Coaches and players who understand advanced game strategy.
4. Overall environment of belonging, accountability and competition.
5. Players with a good head on their shoulders (the fewer head cases, the better) who can stay on as even of a keel as possible, but still have some adrenaline going.

Some teams easily give up extra bases .... some teams don't . To give two scenario's (both from our HS team which drives me insane) . inexperienced , average to slow runners on 1st -3rd . one out . early in the game . All state catcher . SS and 2nd baseman good enough to trust to catch ball and tag runner and make a play at the plate. Catcher is experienced enough to peek at third to make that split second decision on " can I make a play at second without easily giving up a run '' because remember the runner at third is both inexperienced and not fast . My philosophy would be make the out at second . Heck I've seen our team not throw thru with two outs and a slow girl on third. thats a non agressive defensive philosphy.
The other is NOT taking a shot at the lead runner ( if she is slow-average speed) on a poor sac bunt attempt . Too often we would bring our corners in , get a bunt hit directly to us but never even take a look at getting the lead runner . Some teams just dont have that philosophy. They just take the out at first.
And several times I've seen our pitcher(s) take a grounder and not get the lead runner . The fact is we pretty much play Little league philosphy on D . MD

also i believe this question could be answered many ways ... are you talking two 10u teams ... 2 16u gold level teams , or your average d-4 HS team . The answer would be different for two equally bad teams VS two equally great teams.

Coaching....if the girls are equal, than it comes down to who has the better coaches. Success comes from preparation. Which coach has prepared their players to take advantage of every opportunity available and to finish the game to the last out?
