High School game this weekend;
Runner on 3rd with 1 out, batter hits a pop foul between the 3rd base coaches box and the fence. The third baseman collides with the base runner in foul territory while attempting to get to the ball (which is also in foul territory). It is questionable whether or not the ball could have been caught and it would have required a supreme effort to get there.
Is this interference on the part of the base runner?
The umpire called inference on the play but a 30 year ump who was standing next to me didn't think it was the right call. Now i've gotta know.....
