We saw a game yesterday in which Hilliard had a freshman catcher who was very good in all around aspets of the game. No one stole, she had two nice outs at the plate one was a great throw by the S.S.

Not to take away from her game, but they said she plays JV too? Is that allowd? why would she not be there? and how many games a year can one play?

I remember her from the winter and we remembered she was pretty good, not afraid to throw anywhere.

From the OHSAA website:

A. GENERAL REGULATIONS
1) Interscholastic Participation
1.1) No team or individual may play more than two games per day except the one time
during the regular season when each school team may play three games on a nonschool
day.
1.2) An individual may play in a reserve game and a varsity game in the same day.
Participation in both counts as two games in contest limitation of 27 contests on 23
playing dates. Doubleheaders must be played on nonschool days or days when there
is no school the following day. (Penalty ? See Sports Regulation 19.)

Don't worry 8's, with the freshman cancellations of schools with no teams, she will be well within the limit as they both play the same day in different towns. Yes she should be on JV starting, but the one there can't play down and numbers of girls are limiting when she can.

Sorry she caused you a bad day yesterday but that's what she does. :) Yes, she did play winter ball on eastside of Columbus

JV players can play either up or down. Bearmay posted the other rules above.

Regarding weather it is a good practice I think that it is. Here in Greenville we are fourtunate enough to have a very strong varsity team. The starting 9 are about as set as it gets. Having said that there are 4 freshman that are very solid players. This is the first time in a while that a couple freshman have not started for the Wave in the past 3 or 4 years. So these 4 players rotate up and down between the varsity and the JV. They get in every now and then but I think that even if they did not the experince of being in some huge games (meaningful games) with big rivals is unmatched. When it is their turn they will know what a rivalry is all about.

There is no doubt that this experience beats the heck out of being involved in another 20-0 JV blowout.
