Is this correct?

I'm new here, and to fp in general, but this has me wondering if it is correct or not:

http://www.paasa.org/age_cutoff_date.htm

It says that if you are born in 1999, that you CANNOT play at U10. I thought that it was the age that you are on Jan. 1 of that year. So my daughter was born in May 1999, and was 10 on Jan. 1, 2010 and plays on a U10 team, but this says she can only play on U12 or up.

Who is wrong, me or their chart?

That chart seems incorrect to me. My DD is a '95 and she is still 14U eligible.

This chart is incorrect. The best way to think about it is - whatever your daughters age was on 12/31/2009 is what she is for 2010. My daughter was 13 on 12/31/2009, she turns 14 in May therefore she is considered 13u eligible by ASA.

The chart is incorrect. If your dd has a 1999 birthday, she is 10U eligible. 12U birth years this year are 1998-1997. You can always play up, but you cannot play down. Rec leagues age cut-offs are different for each league, but travel ball is whatever age you are on Jan. 1

Chart is definately wrong. Since the organization references the ASA, here is the age chart from the 2010 ASA Code. You can direct the organization to this link if they don't believe you.

OK, thanks everyone. You've confirmed my belief that they were incorrect.

BTW, love this site, much better than the WPaNSA site. Actual discussion of topics to help the girls.

Klump: Although you and I know we are saying the same thing. The Jan 1 date has been a big source of confusion for the 1 in 365 kids who have a Jan 1 birthday. I still believe it is most clearly explained as I did above. It is whatever your childs age is on December 31, 2009 (for 2010 playing season).

Just me being anal.
