With the help of Ricky and IFA.

We are introducing a new off season sport that uses the softball.

Teams Field 6 players (infield only)
You can only Bunt, Slap or Drag hit the ball.
You cannot foul out
No force outs at Home plate
10' line will be behind bases. A batted ball going over this line will be an out.
5 runs per inning limit
1st and 3rd must start no closer 40 feet from home plate and 2 feet off of base line.

Champion of the tournament will be based on the following system
1) Score (win=2, tie=1 and Loss=0)
2) Head to Head
3) Runs against
4) Coin toss

Once we have the rest of the rules finalized they will be posted here.

BuntBall is exclusive to IFA sanctioning only.

All tournaments leading to the BSD Bowl

Ricky here on mobil.

Wanted 2 cover a few things about "BUNTBALL"

This game is a concept game.

U may call it softball, practice, not a game or what every u choose 2 call it.

But im calling BUNTBALL.

At this time jon and i are working on the details.

Once were done taking input from everyone.

Will move on with hosting a test event at no cost to the. 6 teams that attend.

So will be looking 4 - 2 teams in these age groups 14u, 12u and 10 under.

Will do this 2 work out any unforseen problems.

I think u see a very fast pace game with lots of action.

And to cap off bunt slap and drag 1 & 2. With the 2009 BSD Bowl Game.

It will be a game that stands on its owes or a flop.

God bless
Ricky

Way to go Ricky

When my team played in fall leagues, all we were allowed to do certain games is bunt. The games meant nothing, so we took the time to work on things that would help us win games later. I have to say we were a very good bunting team!

The other team couldn't figure out why we were bunting with two outs and no one on, or with two strikes and no one on, but it helped us in the long run.

Here are the rules we have come up with so far.

Bunt, Slap & Drag Rules

Formats: Indoor or Outdoor
Game: 7 innings or time limit (set by tournament director)
Equipment: Regulation Softballs or indoor softballs and Bats

Bases: Set at 60'
Pitching Distances:
o 8U - Coach Pitch or Machine Pitch set at 35?
o 10U - 35'
o 12U & 14U - 40'
o 16U & 18U - 43'
Starting Positions on Defense:
A total of six (6) defensive players would be stationed at the following positions:
o Catcher
o Pitcher
o First Base
o Second Base
o Short Stop
o Third Base
First and third may start no closer than forty (40) feet from home plate and may not break for the plate until the release of the ball.
All defensive rules apply with regards to IFA rulebook on such items as obstruction, interference, etc.
All pitching rules apply with regards to a legal pitch from the IFA rulebook.
All base running rules apply from the IFA rulebook.

Batters have only four options to contact the ball:
1 Hit away: (Because of no outfield players, this can only result in a single and on base runners can only advance one base.)
2 Bunt: A legally batted ball not swung at, but deliberately / purposely tapped with the bat.
3 Drag: A bunt that is executed while taking the first steps toward first base.
4 Slap: A ball that is struck with a short, chopping motion rather than with a full swing. The two most common types of slap hits are:
o Those in which the batter takes running steps (within the batter's box) toward the pitcher before making contact with the pitch.
o Those in which the batter takes her stance as if to bunt, but then either drives the ball into the ground with a quick short swing or punches it over the infield.
o You cannot foul out on the third strike
All other batting rules apply with regards to strikes, balls and outs as applied to the IFA rulebook for batting.

Offensive team gets three outs per inning.

Teams may bat the minimum of six players / up to their entire roster however; the batting order must stay the same throughout the entire sequence at bat for the game. If a team chooses a lesser number of players to bat, the batting order cannot expand, only substitute during that game.

If a team chooses a lesser number of players than the entire roster, substitutions may be made freely, as this is a fundamental building game, however; if they substitute batters those substitutions must remain in the same spot of the batting order. (Ex: A player may not be substituted in the #3 spot, pulled from the game and then substituted in the #6 spot. They must remain in the #3 spot if they are substituted for again.)

A batter may walk on four balls during their turn at bat, as well as, strike out on three strikes.

All rules from the IFA rulebook concerning bunts / slaps / drags and proper procedures ? batter?s box are applicable.

Game Play:
Traditional seven (7) inning games could be played or time limit.
o Advantage #1: place last batter who made out on first to begin inning (no outs)
o Advantage #2: place last two batters on first and second to begin the inning. (one out)
o Advantage #3: place last three batters on first / second / third to begin the inning. (two outs)

Advantage 1, 2 or 3 can be used at any time during the game but must be reported to Umpire and opposing team and used at the beginning of your at bat. You may use all three during the game, or none at all.
Each advantage can only be used once per game.
No stealing allowed with the ball in the circle or with the pitcher.
Sliding is a MUST to prevent collisions and for safety.
A ball hit to the outfield touched or untouched by defense can only result in a single. Base runners can only advance one base.
