Since this event is coming up this weekend, I figured I'd open a thread for it. Anybody know when the tourney schedules will be distributed? Looks like pretty decent competition signed up for it so far, hoping Pastime puts on a good event for us this weekend. :yahoo:

Friday night? Are you kidding? A lot of teams don't even play on Sunday!!!!!
I can't believe this is even called a tournament! It's only a CASH GRAB!

Here's how the tournaments advertised on Pastimes website:
FOUR game guarantee!
Pool play seeding teams into a single elimination bracket.

FOUR games is all you get. In 16u 3 seeds only play each other in its own bracket. In 18u the same seeds of each pool play each other for one game. No bracket play at all. The pool games are actually bracket games the way this is set up. No chance to work on things at all during pool play. Every game means a lot in order to do well.

SHAME ON US. We keep supporting tournaments run like this, they will just continue to run downhill.

Thanks Brad! It was a great game. I hope you guys have the chance to return the favor. Magic and Fury both deserve to play in games like that more often than not. ;)

Wow, just read the schedule. I'm not sure if I'm reading it right, but if I am, it looks like it's Pool/Bracket mixture, kinda hard to figure out at first glance. Plus, the games are 75 minutes long. I coulda sworn they were longer last summer - I could be wrong. I know our Fall LEAGUE games there were only 75 minutes, but didn't think the Tourney games would be. Hmm. I will go into this with an open mind, hoping maybe I missed something. My girls are psyched to be playing, so I guess I should be happy either way.

Yep…no new inning after 75 minutes.
As for playing…our girls are looking foreword to it also. However they are not a morning bunch and I don’t think that they realize that they play at 8:00am, 9:30am and then 5:00pm. Some of them were excited about the continental breakfast at the hotel, ummmm if they are on the field by 7:00am they’d be out of the hotel before breakfast starts! I don’t think dogie bags are an option, maybe Kroger doughnuts!!! At least they will have a long lunch break!

Hey Cannon,
I don't know where you are staying, but we have had success at other tourneys by letting the hotel know that we have an early game and sometimes they will accomodate and open a little early...just a thought. (usually best to tell them ASAP so that they can get work coverage)

it might be "just a thought"...but it's a goodin'! I'll have to contact them and see what they can do. The bad thing is that some of the team are in another hotel, some are camping, and some are staying with family. I think there's only a few of us together, but still worth asking!

Me no speaky the Pastime Park! How do you read the bracket play for 12U? Some make sense some don't! Don't see where 4 games are coming from either.

That's what I'm sayin' - according to the schedule, we have 2 Pool games first thing in the morning. After the 2 games, I have no idea what's going on. It looks like a mixture of Arabic and Sanskrit to me.

I understand our 2? Pool games, then I think a 5:00 game, after that ????

This is how I read the 12U schedule.

After the first 2 pool games, the 5:00 games serve as the Quarter finals and involve these 8 teams.
1st pool A (1A)
2nd pool A (2A)
1st pool B (1B)
2nd pool B (2B)
1st pool C (1C)
2nd pool C (2C)
1st wildcard (3#1)
2nd wildcard (3#2)

Sunday morning games are round robin with these 3 teams.
3rd wildcard (3x)
4th pool B
4th pool C

For the Sunday games starting at 12:30, the 4 winners of the Sat 5:00 games will play Semi G5 and Semi G6 and the losers of the Sat 5:00 games will play Cons G8 and Cons G9. Then of course the winners will move to the finals of 12U and Cons Final. Decoding De Vinci is easier.

Daytrader,
It took me all night to figure that out. I thought about posting it, but thought twice and decided not to. Nice Job!

OK, only 17 hours until game time for Cincy Fury! We can't wait to play ball Saturday. At least by playing first thing at 8am, the fields will be freshly dragged and the lines will be newly laid down. :yahoo:
