has anyone ever used real softballs with a jugs pitching machine without damaging it?

Was going to use the machine for fielding practice to get as many reps as possible and make it easier for this old coach to get more stuff done in a short period of time.

The dimpled balls are softer and bounce out of the glove and because there is so much back spin coming out of the machine. will a reg. 12" softball damage the jugs machine? anybody already try this?

Can’t say for certain if long term use will range the machine but it is hard on balls. And you get the similar back spin with real balls like you do dimpled balls.

Dan,
I have used real balls with my machine for fielding and its great but really tears the balls up over time. You can also use them for hitting and get crazy movement.

They make high seem pitching machine balls that have molded seams. The wheel will rip the seems out of general use softballs in a short time and the extra drag will wear out your wheel...
