Kent State Showdown is for January 3, 2015 and Queen of Diamonds (at Kent State) is January 3-4, 2015. I have heard that you want to attend both of these for exposure.

I was wondering which one would be best to attend if there is only enough funds to attend one?

Thanks for your help.

Let me phrase the question different.

Which one would you attend or feel is the best??

We are going to QDSS and hope to make QDNS. This is our first time but after talking to a few people I was told the camp has a lot of exposure too. I have to say that the info Kirt gives you if you attend QDSS or QDNS is well worth the money alone. Great marketing info to get the coaches attention and get your DD on the radar. I guess if I had to chose I would attend QD once and get the info then attend camps from there on out.

If your daughter happens to be a pitcher and I could only choose 1. I would opt for the Kent State camp. My daughter attended the camp from 8th grade year-10th grade. Plenty of coaches during the pitching portion from all divisions. She ended up with multiple offers from schools who first saw her there.

DD went to QDN and QDS on multiple occasions. She also went on the Cup trip. For a position player I think the at bats at Q of Diamonds are just too few. All are well ran events.

If funds are limited Kent State camp. My DD went to both and there was more coaches at the camp on Saturday. Also a lot of the coaches help with the camp

I may be alone in this opinion, but after dd attending several QDSN & QDSS, the Kent State camp is the best bang for the buck. QDSN is Saturday evening and Sunday - of which DD may get 2-3 at bats unless they are in the cage. Most of the coaches leave before Sunday. Pitchers and catchers alternate innings so really, they get 1/2 the playing time as the other kids. The recognition and "bragging rights" for being named MVP is cool, but for the most part, it is not worth the money IMHO. I have seen interest generated from the showcase however, so it's not without its worth.

Been to both, twice. If you can only do 1 I'd say the Kent state camp.

Keep in mind, as "ssandy" pointed out, the Queen of Diamond events are targeted towards teaching the player how to market themselves to the college coaches & how to get the coaches attention to peak their interest in the player. Both the camp & the QDS events are great, but to just show up to any event and expect to get noticed over hundreds of other athletes without the marketing is a huge risk. My advise, go to QDS this year, let your daughter learn how to market herself to college coaches the right way, then attend the camps the rest of her high school career.

I agree with the two saying that QDDS is very informative on marketing players. My Daughter attended both and the QDDS in South Carolina (which is a way different experience the QDSN), but it does seem that more colleges attend Kent State camp. Again, we learned a lot through Kirt on Marketing. Side Note, if you are approached (most are) to do the Elite team for QDDS spend your money on more camps etc; please don't get over excited that OMG my daughter was chose to do the Club team what an honor. Again, if you have the moey to spend and what a little bit of a different experience than have at it; but my opinion it does nothing to gain colleges to notice you.

Kent camp is far and away the best bang for your money. QoD use to be a very good exposure opportunity 10 years ago but it has become a money grab with so many positions around the FH that there is no way coaches could possibly see everyone. In the Kent camp the coaches are actually out on the field or in the middle of the hitting drills so they can talk with and instruct the girls to see how they respond.

I agree 100% with bucketime about the Netherlands Cup trip. It has zero recruiting value.
My daughter, wife and sister-in law took the trip. They went for the experience and because we were able to spend the money for the trip.

We had good experiences at both QDS and QDN. Like most things though, you can bet someone's making money from it. I still say for the $ the Kent State pitching camp was the best bang for our buck we ever received.

Kent State/QDN are a matched set.

At KS your dd (pitcher) gets to work immediately in front of the college coaches with them right there into center walkway. They can take a good look and spend some time with her. The QDN has much more limited opportunities but critical in that the colleges get to see her in pressure situations and if they noticed her at the KS event they might pay attention when she is pitching at QD. Furthermore Kirt gets your dd thinking about college and marketing herself, the majority of the value of the QD is in this forced marketing and life planning.

If I was spending the time/money to get to Kent State and I'd sell my golf clubs/boat/lawn mower to get her in both.

From memory the Kent state fills fast, so if you don't want to be shut out, sign up fast. The QDN has value in the marketing experience gained from it as well. More coaches at Norht than South I think! but it depends also what area your daughter wants to go to school.

Took my daughter there last year and did both, but I should of only done the kent at camp. My daughter got more looks from the camp then QDNS. Coaches went from 140 on fri to under 20 after camp and sat. There where more coaches at every station then there were at the QDNS. Save your money and go to kent st showcase. Forgot to say daughter received full ride from being seen at the camp (hitting)

Camp, as coaches will see her get a ton of swings, and ground balls, throws etc.. she might play two games on the field and never get a single ball hit in her direction.
