Thank you to the Lasers organization for their hard work this weekend on the fields and countless hours preparing for the event. Look forward to competing in the future with these two great teams!

Congrats to all the 10u girls who played this weekend! Definitely witnessed a lot of great plays and ball played by these young girls this weekend. Furthermore, I made a point to pay attention to the kids, as kids, I saw smiles everywhere, young girls giving 110% effort, and caught myself smiling quite often just from being around 10 teams of amazing young ladies! All of these kids are champions in my book! There must be a lot of great parents out there too, because they are raising some great kids! Congrats to all!

At 18u Civic and Community parks...

Civic Park. Unprepared concession truck half the day, after that, nothing.

NO FENCES. This one is inexcusable, for years other tournies ( cough Metro) was totally lambasted on here for not having fences for older age groups and they have stepped up. Its time Lasers did the same thing, the excuse of no one else does it doesnt hold water any longer. It completely changes the game, give the teams what they want or theyll go elsewhere which i saw a few already have.

Field maintenance Community park. i commend the job that was done sunday, i think they had 3-4 guys and one little Laser working 4 diamonds. Fields were terrible and really unplayable but these guys worked their asses off to get them going. One parent inparticular needs a medal for the hard work he put in.

Competition. Alot of good competitive games. Umpire grumbling was minimal at least at 18u.

College Coaches. Not the best turn out that ive seen in years past for this tourney. Bad weather also could have hindered this.

Overall. The Lasers did a great job with all the rain coming and going to keep a quality tourney afloat (not the best choice of words lol). However, i think they need to invest a little more into the things that people want that separates a mediocre tournament from a great one, and to keep it a tournament better teams want to play in.

Sounds like nothing has changed.
Its been a few years but when we were at 18U the fields were at the bottom of a long set of stairs. The parking lot had its share of zombies as well.
For the price we did get a lot of games 9 or 10 and if you are wanting looks from smaller schools there seemed to be a lot of NAIA DIII at the fields.

I thought everything was great about tournament. In Gahanna at 14u the Lasers field crew did an awesome job, competition was great and even saw very good umpiring all week with the exception of one misinterpreted rule. But I agree with Hitter23. With this amount of teams and money get fences for all sites. Had them at Gahanna West but not South and it changes the game

I agree with BA824, the Laser crew did an awesome job on the fields in Gahanna for 14u. We were part of some very competitive games and I watched a ton of great teams and games. My complaint is also not having fences as well at the South fields. We were part of a game that had 2 bombs by the same girl caught because there were no fences and I also watched another team lose an elimination game by 1 run because they had 2 bombs caught because there were no fences. This seems to be the biggest complaint about this tournament every year. Overall the Gahanna Crew did an awesome job.

Sorry to say.........But this has been going on at Lasers Tourney for last three plus years .... Wish they would fix it !!!

Same old story...."we'll get fences next year" STILL WAITIING !!! "we'll post results during tourney this year" ...........STILL WAITING !!!

Yeah would be nice to see something about results on the web site at least !!!.........Would have also been nice to see fences!! .........

Heard a lot of teams saying they are not coming back due to fences and lack of college coaches .......We only saw four college coaches at the fields we where at and that was on FRIDAY .........NONE for the rest of weekend ...yeah rain might have done that ...

BUT not posting things online or anywhere so the college coaches can know what games are going on is UNACCEPTABLE !
Heard that straight from college coach!!
HOPE YOU GET THIS STUFF FIXED >>>>> STARTINGT A GET A BAD REP. IS NOT GOOD FOR ANYBODY !! BOTH EASY FIXES !!

I don't post very often but I feel the need to defend the Laser program. For those that know me, I am not affiliated what so ever with the Laser program. Tournaments all throughout Ohio and Midwest were cancelled this weekend because of the weather, but not Lasers. The field crew worked hard to keep those fields playable all weekend long.

Are there things that need to be improved, yes but I do know this, while teams in other tournaments were rained out and unable to play this weekend, my team got 10 games of competitive softball in this weekend at Lasers. At the end of the weekend, unlike the teams that got rained out, I was able to say my team improved because of playing in those 10 games instead of being home. Do they need a website to post scores and bracket play, yes its 2015 and it needs to happen. Do they need fences at all fields, it would be helpful. But some of the other highly successful tournaments in Ohio don’t have fences at all the fields either. This is something teams learn to deal with. Do I get tired of using portable restrooms, of course who doesn’t? It seems like I have to use them every weekend in every tournament we go to.

We had an opportunity to play at three different locations and I will say on Friday and Saturday I saw several college coaches at Community Park in Whitehall. Was the place flooded with the college coaches, no, but there was several of the coaches standing around watching teams play. The umpiring was excellent as always!

Does the Lasers need to improve on some things, of course but overall nice job to the Lasers program in running a successful competitive tournament in the pouring down rain.

I read allot of things about the tournament have none playing anymore, but dang people the weather in Columbus was horrible this weekend. Umpires are always going to be good or bad, get used to it. Some tournies will never have fences, oh well you figure it out. As far as improvements, each tournament should have at least only one new thing each year as a goal to keep the interest up for that tournament. It takes time and what is this only year 4? Not sure of that, but it does take time.

They are one of the premiere ones in the state and won't be going away soon I'm sure. It will only get better with time compared to some of the lesser orgs that try tournaments too. But one new thing a year should be a realistic goal for any TD......

Hopefully gods will help your weather in16' don't have it same weekend as CBUS art show as that is the cursed event....

Umpires showing up late.......... acting like didn't care didn't help either...:p

I can say that all of my games at Community Park started on time (even a few minutes early in some cases)- and that I at least acted like I cared about them, too!

I know that there was confusion about the schedule for the umpires as well. Sunday I was scheduled for 8:00 a.m. at Comm. Park. Then I get a text message that we have a two hour delay. About an hour later I get another text that says my game has been moved to another park. So I go to the other park, do two games, then no teams show up for the third game. We call our UIC and are told to wait at the field we're on. Then we get another call that says our next game is back at Community and it starts in 15 minutes!

We hop in the car and fly to Community, only to find that our game was started 15 minutes early with two other umpires who had been cobbled up from the pool of umpires waiting around the park. My partner relieved the base umpire on one field and I relieved one on another, so to a casual observer it may have looked like the umpires were showing up late.

During one of the rain delays, I heard one of the stupidest comments I've ever heard from a coach. He's walking by a group of umpires and complaining about the delay. The guy loudly says, "They could probably get the games started a lot quicker if the umpires weren't sitting around doing nothing!".

Dude, the umpires have ZERO input on the scheduling, length of the delays, fields being worked on, etcetera, etcetera. We just go were they tell us to go, when they tell us to go there!

The only thing special about the Lasers tournament was the teams that played in it.... I will now go into hiding.

Competition was wide ranging, but overall plenty of good competition. The fields were better than average (good job dealing with the weather) and the umps were good at all of the games I watched.

Thought there would have been more colleges, but know most were in Chattanooga. Did see a handful of coaches from D1, D2, and D3. Was excited to see U of K there on Sunday, so that's a great sign that she made the drive from Scenic to see a girl or two.

The biggest gripe with this tournament is the lack of HR fences, especially at 14U and up. DD's previous team stopped coming partly because of this. This can change the outcome of games considerably. If it wasn't an elimination tournament and more of a true showcase, then might not be as big of a deal.

Also with all the technology available now to not post results online for a tournament of this status is disappointing.

Surprised to see the # of teams that you would expect to be here but were at Scenic and Compuware. Choices are a good thing.

No concessions, no fences, no excuses. What I saw in the 16u level was a range of talented teams and a range of officiating. Half of our games ended in run rule and in all of my years I have never seen umpires stall so that the girls wouldn't start a new inning pass the almighty time clock. Saw minimum college coaches at our locations. If I was still coaching, I would not bring a team back. JMHO!
