Per NSA teams still need to qualify at a tournament, by placing, usually 1 or 2, but could be lower if it is a large tournament. It doesn't matter how they perform at the State tournament, they just have to play.

Ohio Rays, from what I understand of the NSA, The Scholarship Tournament in Brook Park is classified as a NSA National Invitational Tournament (NIT). If you receive a berth from an NIT, you do not have to go to the NSA States. Last year's "Heat It Up" was also a NIT (not sure about this year).

New info on ALL ASA YOUTH STATE TOURNAMENTS: After speaking to Bob Ward, Ohio ASA District 16 Commisioner, I found out that the youth fastpitch state tournaments will be held July 7-9, location not awarded yet. ASA has NO intention of changing the date to July 4th! Understand that Mr. Farley is doing well and will not be replaced. Since ASA has gotten so big in youth fastpitch Mr Farley will have assistance to cover the whole state. All coaches will have a phone no. and a contact no. after the Dec 4th meeting. We need to remember that ASA is still the only way to get into college. I have never had a problem in contacting Mr. Honaker, if he isn't there, he always returns my calls.

smitty - thanks for the information. I am sure there are a lot of parents that are happy to know that the only way into college is through ASA...

I too am perplexed at the statement that ASA is the only way to get into college. Someone better tell the college coaches who have been contacting my daughter.

Wow-what a blanket statement! Am I the only one that finds it unusual that a first time poster is so well informed? Why does this post seem so clouded in mystery?

Well besides that incredibly unfounded statement made by Smitty--I'd like to know when you talked to ASA? You are a first time poster, making an incredilous statement, and quite frankly, I'm not sure if I believe you.

Ron--I know you said you would know more on Sunday--whenever you find out, can you please confirm/deny.

Yes kindly recognize yourself, Smitty. If what you say is true, let's put a name behind it and all of your sources of information. Judging by all the other comments on this site, I would say you are in the minority in regards to your comments about ASA. Until you say who you are, I put no credit in your replies.

Concerning these tournaments - see my post dated today in the tournament area as a reply to Ron Sanders post.

And yes, John Farley has an assistant. The assistant is me. And I have been his assistant for a number of years. And I am a member of the Ohio ASA Council.

I promise that if I don't have the information you are seeking, I will get it for you. I attempt to post correct dates every year for these tournaments the evening after the meeting.

I rarely visit this board, only the evening after council meetings. If you have a question, I can be contacted at 330-733-9209 (Home), 330-860-2621 (Work), ?or at cgivens@neo.rr.com

You can also see my post on the new format for ASA Regionals & NQ's.

you know, i've been in the business for awhile.... i'm not going to give you my resume and i could care less what one thinks. however ASA Ohio has a chance to correct itself, but refuses to do so. Cecil if you the assisant i'm sure each of those TD's would like to meet you before and during their tournaments. also who is cordinating the ASA schedule for 2007 since 2006 is blown. One last thing who is out there promoting ASA?

Keep up the pressure Ron. Hopefully ASA will come out of the dark ages one of these years. Now would be the time to do it with all the perceived complaints about some of the other organizations( NSA in particular).

Ron,

I agree that ASA may need some changes. ?However I am not sure you are the answer having been associated with you & Mr. Bowman for the last 8 years or so.

You have been posting your resume for the JO job for the last several weeks here, ?If I recall you stated in your first bid. ?"This is the last time I will make my case for the job and then you will not hear from me again. " ?Stop it now do what you said you would and let the people make their choice.
