I don't normally rant on here but this one just ****ed me the hell off enough to do it! Just found out that after we were initially excepted the so called coaches, voted not to let us in because one of our players dad was a coach and left on bad terms.. Who the hell do you aholes think you are? just a reminder, IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU ITS ABOUT THE GIRLS!! so because you have an issue with a previous players parent you are going to burn 10 other girls and a potential chance to be in front of a college coach and their possible future plans?? Seriously?? This Is the second time this has happened to our team. We didn't steal any players or cause problems at previous tournament and we are more than competitive enough as we finished in the top 5 as 14 U! That year we got a last minute invite because one of our pitchers left one of their teams in the fall, without any effort on our part, and they voted the team out! Never mind the fact that one of the parents on that team threatened physical harm to that family and they still play on a stingray team!!?? I guess their morals stop at leaving the organization!! In the end they can go f themselves as we are playing in another tournament and this is my dds last year! I just thought people out there should know the kind of things that go on inside this organization and this tournament! Grow up!

What I will say is this type of post is exactly why a posters team affiliation should be a manditory part of their signature line.

As I am not one to hide behind screen names I am a parent of a central Ohio lady viper 96! It's funny that is your only concern.. It doesn't matter to me! These statements are fact, not here say by a team crying about not getting in to the tourney as I said this is my daughters last season and we are already in another tournament. And hopefully you are not gonna try and say this doesn't happen?? So there is your mandatory addition

Nothing personal about the affiliation statement. I have been on that kick for longer than you have been a member on this site - trust me.

I am on my way to a qualifier - but I will give you my personal take on large events and the standards in which most of them review the entries when I get back. I have no knowledge of how the Stingrays determine their field at this point. What I can tell you is the way it was done when I ran the event - and trust me I ****ed off plenty of people that didn't make the field in my day - ask your coaches they are old buddies of mine . What I can also tell you from the other side is what it takes to get accepted to major events as a team. Many very good teams don't get into tournaments like the Stingrays, and TD's know it. It is part of the game. But the long and short of it, as you said - it is about the girls. For every team that is not choosen there is a team of girls that does get in. So it may not be for your girls - but it is for others. I was told this long ago when I started coaching - gaining entry to a particular event is a privilage - not a right. That TD was absolutely correct.

no dog in this fight, I hope naming your organization doesn't hurt other girls who are not in their last year of playing...

it is a shame if you were accepted and then told yo can't play in it. Great exposure tournament and great competition.

I have been in this long enough to realize that that it is impossible to always make an informed decision about who does and doesn't get into a big tourney. The problem is how this decision was based. I find it hard to believe you think the td was right? As far as naming the team, are the Stingray's going to get us black balled from other events? Because we wouldn't be applying to Stingray's again anyway. Once again it's not that we were left out its about How they chose to leave us out.

I'm confused as to " initially accepted" and then " voted out " .. You dont mean like voted out the past week or two do you ? Or do you mean you were in then a situation with players occured and you were un -invited ? Stingrays upper ages is a tough tough invite and deserving teams are left out every year .

I agree that it's an extremely tough choice who to invite. Our coach was told that our check was received and we were good to go, then was called and told what happened in the meeting about the some of the coaches voting not to let us in because of the player's father and his exit from the Stingrays. So yes we could have been just not voted for and this would have been a mute point, but that's not the case here. My point was to say personal bias against one player's family shouldn't count against a whole team. Jmho. I am quite sure it will be denied, but whatever.

Not sure what happened but Stingrays Tournament, bar none has grown into the best Tournament in the state of Ohio and continues to improve the quality of it each year. The organizations commitment to the initial standards of sportsmanship, teaching the game and support for the young ladies of the support has been second to none and should be emulated by other organizations. Organizations don't stay around this long or colleges don't come out in droves to the tournament if something isn't there.

Things will happen and the full details aren't explained in your initial ramble, but throwing someone under a bus in an online forum I'm sure doesn't help your organizations chances in the future events, but the amount of girls Stingrays organization has helped in their own organization and other organizations, speaks for itself. The dedication and hard work from all of their organization to pull off this event year and and year out and keep it a class grade "A" event is not an easy task and I'm sure the Teams who've attended in the past and in the future will continue to attest to that fact.

Standing by the Pillars of what the organization stands for some don't realize, myself included at a time, are unknown and not realized until a time yours have played for them and realize they are hard working normal people with full time jobs, some with no kids even playing and some of the best people I have ever met in my life. Having none play anymore, I too will be helping in any little way I can at the tournament again this year, to help give a chance for a kid I don't even know hopefully reach a dream by being seen at this event, run by very good people... Unless you have walked in the shoes of running a monster event like this, then you haven't an idea of what it takes and Im sure any decision made by them to include, or exclude any team is not taken lightly...

ok off my soap box, sorry....

I couldnt help but IMMEDIATELY think of one Mr Larry Caton . A true " good guy " in the world of fastpitch . He beamed like no other when his 12u Rays' won the ASA state tourney a few years back . one of my kid's fav memories also.

Yes my daughter's have played for them and I have worked the tournament as well. I have also been involved in other invite only tournament s. I am not doubting the stingray organization and tournament has helped many, but this kind of thing really should be stopped. It's a lays the same from some people, we just don't understand, well I actually do. For all those who will miss the point here, it is what it is. But once again it's about HOW they decided to exclude the team not that we were excluded! Personal vendettas should be left out of the decision process.. I have reached my limit on typing and arguing so this will be my last post on this issue and I guess we can agree to disagree!

Let's say you had an event at your house and one of the people you invited acted like an ahole. Would you invite them again to your house for an event? I for one say no. That is solely my stand but I stand by that.

Also, that fact that your team's check has arrived or "accepted" does not mean that the team has been issued an invitation. It just simply means that your team's check has arrived.

I think its more crying, whining and ****ing and moaning then politics. Anyways, looking forward to scouting at by far the best and most competitive tournament in Ohio.

golfnut - the point you are making, but don't realize, is simply this.....the decision about who plays in these events is up to the tournament committee - period. If they don't want you to play because you have blue eyes that is their business. Some of the events we play only take a certain number of teams per state. Would you b**** about that? Some major events put teams that don't play all their associations events on the off complexes where no one goes. Would that ruffle your feathers? Would you jump online and slam them - probably not. Your posts reflect a very obvious personal vendetta on your part. Back in my day there were two teams that I would not let play in the tournament. One was because of the actions of the coaches and one because of how the parents acted. It sent a message to the other teams about what was acceptable. No one is owed a spot in any tournament. And if you are lucky enough to be part of an invitational events selection committee - it is just that...a committee that selects teams to play in THEIR EVENT.

When I looked at the Scenic City 16's criteria, this is one of them. Kinda shocked me at first, but completely makes sense.
