sdlove, you hit it on the nose!!
If these naysayers would replace jealousy with courage, they too would be headed to ASA Nationals!! They ALL had the opportunity, very, very few chose the hard path!!
What more do we have to do to prove ourselves this year?
3 wins in a row over Ohio Ice
Only Ohio team to beat Pittsburgh Spirit (who were unbeaten at time)
3rd at Compuware for highest Ohio finish (Lasers Orange 9th)
first at Stingrays Invitational (Ice 2nd, Lasers Orange 3rd)
The best part is ALL the young ladies are under 12 and can return next season!!

the sad thing about this post...these girls are 12 years old!

the "adults" making the comments on this post arent even acting like 12 year olds.

let the kids play and have fun.

bigtrain..gloat all u want ! you do have a good team.
but keep it to your self everyone is tired of it.

Streak, I agree with you. Big Train did it again. Local paper update at what he is doing at Pony Nationals. Big Train - every one of your gloating posts only mention your (2) pitchers and sometimes your dd. How do you think the other 8-9 girls feel, they had to have some part in your success. Unless the pitchers have thrown no hitters in all your wins and your dd has it homes runs at each at bat. Like streak said, enjoy your success while you can and give the other players some press if you have to keep on giving everyone updates!!

I don't think anyone is "hating" on these ?girls. ?They deserve a round of applause for their efforts!

However- ask anyone who has seen them play what happens when the coach and his wife and other parents on the team feels the ump made a bad call. ?He almost got his team ejected from the Stingray tournament! ?That display was a disgrace. His players were mortified.

Those ladies are a fantastic group of ball players, though.

Didn't Jenna Modic pitch for the Valley Extreme 14U Blue team this year? Did she leave the Valley Extreme, or is she finishing out the season with the Slammers?

Your absolutely right no one is hating on his team, it's him. It's the arrogance, it's the hourly updates of "see what we did!" He does it between games even. I believe this guy sticks out like a sore thumb on here, because everyone else does their thing and moves on. Not him he feels the NEED to broadcast it. The facts remain and EVERYONE I'm sure aggrees. The girls are great, no doubt, overachieved for sure. But guy, with every post you make everyone dislike you more and more. You can make all the comments you want, we all know you will. But remember every post makes you look more and more like a kook!
By the way since we all know your going to post, how many tournaments have you won? Don't include being given asa states when nobody showed. And if as you say, you only go to tough tourneys, where only the tough survive, why didn't you go to nsa nationals? Let me guess it's not nearly as tough as pony right?

This is for those who enjoy reading updates on the Little Slammers -- to the rest, why in God's name are you even opening the file???? You just can't stay away???? Hate to tell you, but my concerns about winning popularity contests ended in the sixth grade. I have withstood the assails of far more intelligent people than a bunch of nitwits hiding behind cyber alias. Post your identity and then you have at least the credibility of standing behind your words.
The Little Slammers beat Central Jersey Lightning 4-0 behind Jenna Modic's 1-hitter and key two-run double by Jayla Saibene on Wednesday morning at Packard Park to wrap up a berth in Thursday's championship round!!!
Abbey Filliez, Erika Warren, Jayla Saibene and Jenna Modic all had two hits apiece to spark the Little SLammers' offense.
Go SLammers.
Now, if that was too hard to take, don't open the Little Slammers file again!!!

Jenna Modic did play for Valley Extreme 14u Blue but age wise she can play 12u. Her team did not enter any national tournaments in ASA, NSA, or Pony.

Rick, thank you for ``coming out'' of the cyber closet and identifying yourself!!!
We'll see how the housewives eating bon bons and watching soaps do on this little endeavor.
Of course, creating hate over anything as important as 12U softball takes up a lot of time and energy, so I do not wish to be distracting them from their primary functions in life's course!!
Have a good life all.
Good Luck to Leon's Lasers 16s in Seattle -- say hello to Megs, she's with the Beverly Bandits!!

camp_txc,

Thanks for the answer. I knew she was eligible for 12U. I assumed she went to the Slammers for the tournament, but was not sure.

I have always told my kids play hard and play well and you will get noticed for what you have done on the field and people will talk about you and you will not have to tell everyone how good you are! Yes the Little Slammers are a good team, but so are numerous other teams in every age bracket. I just dont see Lasers, Ice, Stingrays ect posting all of their results with individual player stats. Bigtrain, your kids will get noticed and have got noticed for their accomplishments on the field. I always like to hear how certain Ohio teams are doing in nationals, yours included! But only wins, loses! I dont need to know who hit, or who pitched!Like I said before, I'm hoping you turn a few heads at ASA

Shazam, Thanks for following us and the rest of the Ohio teams -- the information I post is for whomever wishes to digest it, including the legendary Bold One!! -- if anyone is offended, DON'T OPEN THE FILE.
It says specifically ``Little Slammers open PONY with no-hitter'' -- It's all about the Little Slammers. If you don't want to read about the Little Slammers, I repeat, DON'T OPEN THE FILE.
It's like the surgeon general's warning, and people keep smoking cigarettes!!! The American public as a whole is far more stupid than it's ever given credit for.
Just keep feeding the goat!!!

bigtrain this type of post is great for the interested parties who cannot attend the event. ?it is nice to get up to date information on your favorite team when your stuck at work. ?i wish my dd's coach would do more of these posts. ?however as mentioned in this thread most times those players that dominate at the younger ages and i mean 14u and below either are just another player or have been passed by 16u or 18u. ? seems like in boys and girls sports it is almost a curse to be good when your young. ? i think it has to do with puberty for both genders. ?

Timac, you are very correct in pointing out that the younger age groups, and this very specific to Little League Baseball, are dominated by the teams with the highest sexual maturity index rating.
Dr. Michael G. Marshall, the former Cy Young Award winner who has a PhD in kineseology, is a HUGE proponent on grouping kids not by their calendar birth date, but by their sexual maturity index.
Won't ever happen, but it's an interesting thought.
Your concept of the early bloomers actually being cursed is quite true. They gain a very false sense of their talent. Then, suddenly, they aren't a foot taller than everyone else a year down the road and her/his skills aren't good enough to keep him/her at the top. The kid often quits because he/she can't handle the new status and he/she doesn't have a clue how to battle back.
I also totally agree with you that just because a young athlete is a stud at 12U doesn't mean that kid will be a recruit at 18U.
That's a HUGE reason we are so skills-oriented in our teachings. In fact, we have many more munchkins than mashers. But all are taught the same skills and if you have a masher who also is highly skilled, then you have an athlete who can continue to excel throughout the age-group ladder.
That SHOULD be the primary concern of every coach, not winning games because you have all of the ``big'' kids on board. Of course, if you teach the skills, the wins will come. We believe we're doing exactly that.

Psychiatrist General's warning: Reading this could be hazardous to some people's mental health!!!!
Jenna Modic had 15 strikeouts while throwing a one-hitter and first baseman Abby Funk drove in the game's only two runs with a double and single as the Little Slammers 11U opened Championship Bracket play with a 2-0 win over the Hudson Valley (NY) Hurricanes. That advances the Little Slammers to the Elite Eight in the 12U division of the PONY National Championship Tournament in Liberty.
The Little Slammers sealed the Bracket 1 championship and then beat the Hurricanes in tightly contested game to run their winning streak to 15 and overall record to 50-11.
The game was scoreless until fourth when Abbey Filliez walked, Jenna Modic singled and both were advanced by Erika Warren's bunt. Sarah Nist then hit a screaming line drive that was snared by the first baseman, but Funk hit a shot up the middle and beat the shortstop's off-balance throw to first. That allowed both runners to score!!!
The Slammers play the Long Island Chargers at 8 a.m. in an Elite Eight game!!!

Bigtrain,

First and foremost your team has had a great season! Congrats to them!

I saw you answer most posts. But softballmom12 asked and stated several things you must have missed.

You were given ASA states and you won Stingrays tournament. What other tournaments have you won????????
You claim to only play tough teams and tournaments, but went to pony nationals??????????? Because NSA states is too soft right????
You're mentioned by some as among the top 5 teams in the state and went to pony????????? Is that where only the tough survive??????
You claim a record of 40 some wins and 10 or 11 losses, so I take it you have won alot of tournaments right??? Which ones? :-/
