No shorts. Ever. My Daughter's team had the full length pants this past year, and they loved them. Daughter loves them so much, that she is still wearing the same pants on her new team.

We wear knickers but see more and more teams going to the long baseball pants. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why international softball teams wear shorts. Not very practical and it looks ridiculous to me.

Shorts are for 10u and under or community ball. Long pants are for baseball. I say go with the knickers.

I prefer long pants for both softball and baseball. I have tried and tried to get the HC to look at that option but no success.

DD's team, first year 14U, Nationals, elimination game. The teams were battling back and forth. SS comes into the dugout, looks at the rest of the team and says, "We WILL NOT lose to a team that wears shorts!" They didn't. 'Nough said. LOL

International teams wear shorts to make them different from baseball. With the push to get softball back in the Olympics, they are trying to change things. It's finnyvto still see them in shorts but I complete respect their reasoning.

I always liked the over the shoe baseball look, and have tried for years but the girls absolutely were against it. This past year, they wore fastpitch pants but broke tradition and all wore nike short ball caps. Maybe ill try again this yaer.

Never shorts.

When my dd was 6 years old, she was on an 8u team, and I took her to Berliner for the World Series. I started to watch the other teams and thought, "How funny, this team is wearing pants, they must be terrible!" Then, I started looking around, and every single team had pants on. What was in style in 1996, had completely changed in 2010, I was shocked. I loved those shorts darn it, and a long time ago, all the teams "in the know" wore them. Apparently, they aren't coming back!

I certainly hope not. LOL. My DD began her playing 8 and 10U in shorts as well. I haven't had a team wear shorts in the past 6 years and hopefully never will. Knickers or long, I don't care but gotta be pants.

No shorts blah blah blah. The real question is who cares? If a team want to wear shorts so be it. Bottom line if it is okay for team USA it is okay for any team that wants to wear them. Not very practical why? Teach a kid how to slid right and there is no issue. If a team got talent it really doesn't mater which they are wearing.

Good luck. At last count, not one kid on the team wanted long pants. They claim, in their words, that long pants give a "Man A$$" look.

My dd wore long pants this fall and decided if she has the choice that's what she'll wear. They've been given the choice long or short pants and I believe her and another are the only ones to choose long. She says they are more comfortable.

Years ago, I remember hearing a college coach say that girls that wear shorts are less likely to slide. They don't want to skin themselves up. Her program switched to pants.

I prefer the long pants as probably most men who played like. Most girls as they get older want the shorter pants.

In high school, since the games are in the spring I prefer the long pants, never shorts. (Also better for sliding.)

The girls really prefer the long pants, with a low waist and stretchy, kind of form fitting. The loose baseball style pant was hated.

My older daughter team (99") wore long pants a couple years ago....Hated them. Claimed they were too hot. They wear knickers now. I let my team (01') decide and there were only 2 of the team who wanted long pants. To each their own. I am the pres. of our local rec assoc. and I put ALL girls teams in pants a few years ago to try to help them with sliding. I KNEW rec girls (for the most part) were NOT going to slide, much in part because they don't know how but additionally because they had shorts on.

Our HS switched from shorts to pants in 2010, those that were going to slide, were still going to be those that slid, regardless of the shorts.....Good players play period..... Shorts were a Bi#% when they played in the snow/cold games though, but they did............
