Lester, I do not normally post on websites, however, I felt I needed to address your post. First, my apologizes if you felt you were turned away by my response. However, if you came into the Academy unannounced then you realized that I was in the middle of teaching classes and my time would be extremely limited in discussions with people that I did not know. I am sure my answer to you was the same as to any coach that came in looking for pitchers.... I would have said that I didn't know if we had any available pitchers at that time. I don't send pitchers to teams. If asked by a student and their parents about a certain team or coach we will let them know what we have been told by our past pitchers that have played for them and from what we have heard from others. Their decisions are their own. I do know that we have had several pitchers play for the Static organization over the years and presently have a few playing for your teams at this time.
You are also correct when you say that parents should do some research and check resumes of coaches (whether private coaches or team coaches) before putting your daughters' training and careers in their hands.
So here is my partial resume. I am an A.S.A. National fastpitch Hall-of-Famer. I am a 5 time A.S.A. Major Women's All-American. I pitched for the Erv Lind Florists Jr. team and Dr. Bernards Major Womens team in Portland Oregon for several years. I was a head collegiate coach for 15 years coaching at Long Beach State, University of Nebraska/Omaha, and lastly at Ohio University. I was a chair-person for the Div.II All-American committee as well as coaching 7 Div.II All-Americans and numerous All-Conference players. I came to Cincinnati in 1993 and opened the first fastpitch training facility in town. I have been involved in fastpitch for 51 years with both coaching and playing the sport.
The Academy has helped many players go on to play at the collegiate level with schools such as: Ohio State, Kent State, Ball State, Miami University, Moorhead, Cumberland, N.K.U., Middle Tennessee State University and so on. Last year we graduated 4 students with two of them going to DI. schools at I.U.P.U. and Middle Tennessee State, one was on a partial ride and the other on a full. One pitcher selected Cumberland College and received a full athletic ride. The fourth chose to go to Thomas More on a full Academic scholarship. One of these players was selected as an honorable mention High School All-American. Several of the Academy pitchers have been selected to the LaRosa's Player of the Year finalists. If anyone would like to talk to or watch some of our current players you can attend games at Mason H.S., Felicity, Fairfield, Ursuline, Lebanon, Loveland, C.N.E. and so on.
Again, my apologies for what seems like a misunderstanding at the Academy 3 years ago.
