Join the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. ?www.nfca.org ?They send out a newspaper ("Fastpitch Delivery"
16 times a year. ?In addition to news about high school, college, travel, and Olympic performances, Fastpitch Delivery has good articles on running practice sessions, in-game strategy choices, etc. etc.
Also, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association offers "Coaches College" courses that, while pricy, are very good. ?My husband and I, along with such luminaries as JoeA and ErnieC, attended the course held last year at OSU (Course 403: ?"Position Play and Practice" and we are registered for Course 405 ("Teaching a Run-Producing Team Offense and Strategy" October 28-30. ?It's a brutal three day schedule (including 10 hours on Saturday), ?but we thoroughly enjoyed last year's course. ?If Ohio continues to have good attendance, I believe that a course will be offered nearly every year. ?For every two courses completed, you earn 1 star in the NFCA "Master Coaches" program. ?
Last year the three presenters in Columbus included John Tschida, whose St. Thomas (Minn.) team has now won two consecutive Division III National Titles, Bill Edwards, whose Hofstra team advanced to the Division I Regionals in 2004, and Jay Miller, head coach at Mississippi State and also the Head Coach for the USA Elite team. ?This year the three presenters in Columbus are Sharon Drysdale, former head coach at Northwestern and head coach of the NFP's New England Riptide, Jay Miller, and Eugene Lenti, head coach at DePaul and of the NPF's Chicago Bandits. ?If Lenti is anything in the classroom like he was at the World Series last summer, he should keep us awake on Saturday.
