Interesting event at a Umpire sponsored tournament. Although the NSA site states under new rule changes:
Page 85 section 7... Face guards are mandatory in 2005.
Although this was a World Series Qualifier this was not enforced and umpires told me NSA did not put the rule into place. The coach of a team not wearing them said his girls hated the face masks and could not see as well. So it seems if you follow the rules you are put at a disadvantage.
Funny that umpires do not enforce rules at their own tournaments.
Does anyone have insights to this for future tournaments, can we just throw ours away and not have problems this year?
