Actually, This started and was played as a friendly last year and was originally planned as such this year, but turned into a 1 day Non Sanctioned Tournament.

Trainwrecker......Lasers Orange thought they were in. Organizer of this event spoke to our assistant coach, Bob Hoiles, and everyone on Laser side thought we were in. Messages sent were not returned. If this were my event I would want the best competition there....but that is just me.

I just want to make this clear. This is not my tournament I posted it for someone.

I can get myself in enough trouble by myself. ;)

Lasers Orange was sent out same invitation that every team was sent. And yes their assistant was contacted but no response was given.
we were notified feb27 that the orange had interest by that date we were already full. And yes we wanted the best teams and feel we have a very competitive group mr.weidrick.

By the way, Ohioice221 is not a parent from the Ohio ice 12u team. Just making that clear ;) I think we all know the lasers orange could do well in this tournament.

Laser's Orange goals are not about collecting trophies, those only feel good the moment they hand them to you! Laser's Orange are about developing players with fastpitch skills that will prepare the player for the next Level. I would rather play a mid/high level 14u friendly than going to a 12u tourney and run over teams. Please don't say that Im implying that we would run over teams in the friendly this weekend , there are very good teams in it . We do not look past any 12u team nor do we hide. Isnt about getting better? I hope all coach's have that goal in mind. No one is getting tougher without tough challenges. Thanks for getting our back Tony, you are a class act! The orange has yours this weekend.

Sounds like there was some kind of a miscommunication in this case which resulted in the Lasers not getting in ... I take that at face value. With that being said, anyone who comes on here and trash talks the Lasers is either uninformed and/or foolish. For that matter, any "adult" who trash talks any youth team just needs to grow up a little. Even if there wasn't a miscommunication, not every team can always play in every top tournament ... coaches have to sometimes compromise the schedule to allow families to balance other activities in their lives. I know we're taking off a weekend this year to allow our families to do that, and another weekend we're playing in more of a laid back kind of tournament ... and it's not because we're trying to collect trophies. RocketBoo has it ... it's about developing the girls and preparing them for even bigger things down the road. That usually means playing in the toughest tournaments you can find, but it doesn't mean you're going to be able to do that every single week. Hopefully, they are learning even more from their practices about the game, and more importantly throughout the year about dealing with success and failure, being good teammates, working hard, and sportsmanship.

Everyone just calm down... Just busting Coach W's b***s... Everything is not true on this site & everything is not serious. My daughter is a member of Laser orange & has been a member of this team for the last 2 seasons. My daughters have been part of the Ice organization for 5 years. Great memories & better people. Always wanted to say this on this site so here it goes! Just enjoy the now! Quit always looking to this unknown future... She may not want to play next year. She may be injured. Playing college ball is no sure thing. All of these future plans & goals may come true, but just enjoy the now. I don't have any stats or % but I'm sure for every college player signed 1 girl a girl quits playing the game for what ever reason. Nothing wrong with preparing, but nothing wrong with enjoying as well. "Trophies are bad" Thats ****! Sounds good but **** to me none the less. Trophies mean 2 things to me: 1. Great memories 2. You played the maximum games you could. Love looking at them it just brings back those great moments. Some of the trophies make me cry & some make me laugh, & some make me relive a terrible hangover lol. ENJOY! Its gone in a flash...

We are a 14u team and we've played the Lasers Orange a few times this year. They are a tough, well coached bunch of ladies and they give us a good game every time we play. I find it hard to believe they are ducking any team, 12u or otherwise.

Ohioice221 ... I agree with much of what you say ... the numbers are probably more like for every one that plays in college, 5-10 quit, but that point is well-taken, as is the one about all of the memories that can/should be made along the way, as well as some of the more important life lessons I talked about in my post. I still don't get your original post on this thread ... I have a sense of humor, but I guess it's different than yours, and I think you "faked out" at least a couple of other parents on your own team too. To those of us who didn't know you were a Lasers parent, it sounded a lot like trash talking coming from another team's parent, and some of us wanted to make clear that at least the Ice respect your Lasers team and don't do that. Peace ...
