Or maybe a "solid game" that ends with zero earned runs just isn't my cup-o-tea.

Whatever you said though. I'm certain that's what it is.

Congrats to Roadrunners! Stingrays played so tough today!! These kids played 6 straight games with no breaks starting at 8:00 this morning giving Roadrunners all they had left in the championship!! These 2 teams are something to watch! So proud of our team!!

I worked a few Stingray games, including the one where my ear got cut....don't ask, I have no idea. Those girls played hard all weekend, were well coached and it was my pleasure to get to know the team a bit. Same for Road Runners, played hard, well coached...another good group! RR were also my personal pick to win....sometime around 6:30am while I was eating breakfast. Great job by all the lady's playing this weekend!

Congrats to both the Roadrunners and Stingrays!! I was fortunate enough to watch both teams play multiple games today and both were impressive. The pitching was very good, the hitting was very solid and the defense was outstanding. I saw multiple web gems in the Championship game, with the RR SS laying out and throwing from her knees and the RR 1B digging out the throw on one play. The Stingrays 2B making a great backhand deep up the middle and throwing a strike to 1B for the out. Later with runners at 2nd and 3rd, the RR 2B ranged over and down the right field line to take a bloop hit away, saving 2 runs. The Stingray 3B defended the short game with a couple nice plays on bunts. Both the RR and Stingray catchers, I believe had only 1 passed ball each, which for 10U is freaking outstanding. Oh yeah...there was also a nice DP turned in by the RR 1B who snagged a line shot and then double pumped, giving her SS time to cover 2B, before firing a strike to her for the 2nd out :)

Note to 10U parents and coaches...I'm a 15 year veteran of OFC and if you want to post about how your Teams and DD's play then I highly encourage you to do so. These girls are only at 10U for 1 or 2 years and deserve the props and memories!! Thank you for making my Sunday well worth the trip up north. :)

BTW, like I said before I watched games from 11:00am on through the Championship game, and saw nothing but class & respect from the players, coaches and parents...like I've mentioned on another thread...Ohio Softball is on the rise!! :) :)

Tough break with the brackets on the weekend for all three teams. Just the way the seeds worked out! There were also excellent teams on the other half of the bracket. The Rapture and MV Express was an excellent game to watch! A player from Express BLASTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a shot over the fence and on top of a very nice SUV. I am pretty sure there was another HR hit from one of the Stars 05 this weekend. Absolutely insane that a 10 year old is hitting bombs that distance. Have to agree with Bink and Ohio softball!!!

Thanks to everyone who helped make this event go off. I especially want to thank coaches who gave input when we posted this idea on the forum last August. I wouldn't have been able to get some of the quality teams to participate if not for that insight into who had quality clubs. Also congrats to the teams on great showings. This was a tough field and 3-2 or 2-3 is still a good weekend playing the best teams in Ohio.

Final results have been posted here: http://www.usssa.com/fastpitch/Tourn...612&gdSport=16. All you have to do is select a division and then follow the tab links on the top to see pool play results, standings, and brackets.

All 3 divisions featured some very strong teams with a lot of good play and most importantly sportsmanship. I seen a lot of coaches smiling and networking and some great softball along the way.

I also want to thank Ricky and Jeff for stopping out to broadcast the 10u final. Also got to see some friends like Mike Slob and Lee Pyles hanging out enjoying the action.

We plan to do this again next year only to try to get some of the surrounding states better teams up here if possible. I try to learn from every event that I host and this weekend had some lessons to be learned. The play on the field made up for it. Did you know we had an 8u girl hit one out in the semi-finals in the coach pitch? Softball in Ohio is definitely on the "rise".

Lee couldn't have said it any better ... he lists 4 outstanding defensive plays that he details very accurately, because I remember each and every one. There were absolutely more great plays in that championship game than I have seen in ANY one softball game at ANY age level up through college in the last 5 years. And the class and sportsmanship on display was exemplary. I know some people who weren't there definitely know more about what happened than those of us who saw it with our own eyes because after all it's 10U ball and we all know that all 10U games are just ugly scenes of errant balls flying all over the place and, parents and coaches yelling at each other and beating their chests ...

Hmmm ... maybe, just maybe, a few people who post on here aren't really representative of what happens at these games? I'd really encourage a few of you to get out and watch some of these top 10U teams play. I can't even tell you how impressed I was ...

Great to see some positive posts on here about 10u softball. Of course you can find some 10u games that some like to make fun of on here. But to label or stereotype ALL 10u games, teams, coaches, parents, etc. is ridiculous. I understand that some just enjoy negativity or enjoy putting things down. It was a great showcase (probably not the best word...haha) of what 10u softball can be, There is always positive and negative in most things, just depends on what you are looking for!

The Championship game was a great game. You sure can tell those girls put in a lot of work to be that fundamental sound. Seen some plays that would make you say Wow!!! Softball looking good in Ohio!!

Here's some game videos:
Starz '05 4 vs Stingrays '05 5 Bracket Play Starz player hits HR at the 1:15:50 mark
https://youtu.be/3wW2R2c0Q5g

Nice videos and what a cool thing to catch that HR. Can I ask you what product you used to attach to the fence and where you bought it? I have a older model GoPro that I really don't use much. But after seeing these, I may try to catch some too.

I just wanted to say that this was a very fun tournament that Mike Craig and USSSA put on. A very grueling and interesting format got our 9u team 7 games on the weekend. Mike set it up so that if a team lost their first 2 bracket games, they could still get another bracket game...A triple elimination for those in that situation. A couple of us had 5 games on Saturday and we got back to it at 8am on Sunday as long as we won that 5th game. It is not likely that my team will see another tournament this year, with 10u talent so concentrated. The pools looked like the semis at a national qualifier. It was a pleasure to be asked to play. Congratulations to all the teams that were invited and outstanding job to any that won games! Also, thank you to all the opposing coaches and players for treating our young team with the same respect that you gave to the top teams.
