We are proud to announce the 16th Annual Sharks Memorial Weekend Fastpitch Classic for 2011! The tournament will be held at the CYO Complex in Toledo, Ohio (pending spring field audit). CYO is home to 8 fields, concession stands, and a playground for children.

16U (Pending enough registrations)

* May 27th - 29th, 2011
* ASA Rules/ASA Certification required (Certification available on-site)
* 5 Game Minimum (All teams play 4 pool games and then enter single elimination tournament)
* Entry Fee-$375 (Early registration by February 28, 2011-$355.00)
* Registration Deadline - May 13th, 2011
* Drawing - May 20th, 2011 (All coaches will be notified by email)
* Refund policy (due to weather only): 3-5 games played, no refund; 2 games played, $100.00 refund; 0-1 games played, $175.00 refund.
* Registered 14u & 16u teams have until Monday, May 23rd to pull out due to High School playoff runs.

Like one of our friends who also runs ASA tourneys here in the Toledo area, we want to offer some insight to new ASA Certification requirements. We too have heard from a few teams that say they won't be playing in any ASA tourneys this year due to the 'hassle and expense'. Below is essentially what's needed to meet this new requirement.

* For non-qualifying events like the Sharks Tourney, you only need to have 1 coach ACE Certified. The cost of this is $25 and additional bench coaches need to have background checked for $8 each. So if you have 2 assistant coaches, the total cost would be $41.

* All of this can be done online with a credit card in less than 45 minutes. Players DO NOT have to be individually ASA registered for non-qualifiers.

PLEASE DON'T LET THIS STOP YOU FROM JOINING US!! If the cost is the reason you're thinking of not playing in our 16th Annual tournament, please contact me and we'll work it out. We've always been fortunate to have top class players and coaches participate in our tourneys. And we certainly want that trend to continue!

(We're not debating the reasoning behind this requirement. This has been talked about over and over on here. Simply put, our early tourney is a testing ground for how teams will react to this. We want teams to know that we'll work through this together. And Mark, thanks for your thoughts on this.)

I have signed my team up, well Martin has or is going to but its offically on my tournament schedule.

Anybody looking for an early tournament, I recommend it, I'm not associated with the Sharks, but its a well ran tournament held at a very nice complex, ran by very good people. You and your team will have a good time!
