Memorial Weekend Tounament Question

I am still not sure if we should host our tournament on the last weekend in May like we have for the past 2 yrs, as this year 2010 and for the next 3 years this will be Memorial Weekend. But with the GAPPS now not being on Fourth of July then maybe most teams would use that weekend as family time.

So would you still want to come and play in a tournament on the last weekend of May for 2010 even if it is Memorial Weekend.

What is everyones thoughts.

Once the girls enter high school, that last weekend in May is hard to predict because of the HS tournament.

yes as it always has, thats why we allow any 16u or 18u team to drop out the monday before our tournament if their high school girls are still in the playoffs.

Alot of 14u teams face this same dilemma, do you give them that option also?

I think it has worked out well for you in the past. You have had great numbers why change it. You may not get the results you want. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I know for one we have other tournaments we do weekend before and after yours and I'm sure we are not the only one. So I say keep it that weekend.

Keep it the same and give the same option to the 14u teams, I know our 14u team will have six girls in high school..

Teams want to get as many tourneys in as possible, especially with NE Ohio weather in May. Play it.

14u teams have not been a big issue as far as high school playoffs, why because jv ball is over and most all freshman are on jv. but if any team had a few freshman playing Varsity then they could drop out as well if the high school team was still in the playoffs.

You have developed a decent following with your current date it would be a shame to change things now. We are one of those organizations that push our coaches not to schedule anything over the July 4th weekend and give the players some family time in the middle of the season. However, we also encourage them to start as early as possible in May and to play on Memorial day weekend.

One additional thing that could rule a few teams out Memorial Day weekend is if they have more than 4 girls from the same high school. I have 5 on my team, so I will be waiting until the following weekend to start my 16-U team.

My vote is to keep it on Memorial Day Weekend. We are planning on being there.
