This was the year for my oldest who only like to sub

1) Watching my oldest have the time of her life being a pick-up player for cgs (yes I'm still thanking you for this) during the Dayton Metro. Her confidence grew leaps and bounds

2) In a hs game, my oldest dove in homeplate that caught everyone off guard. I have never seen so many mouths drop at one time.

3) My oldest takes her normal lead-off from 3rd. It's a play up until this point has never been picked off. Well, she got picked off. She comes into the dug-out and tells me there's a first time for everything with a smile. Well, two games later, she got picked off again. I asked her what happened after the game and she says I got picked off, duh dad it happens. She was still upbeat and says I just need to get faster.

DD hit 12 homeruns with 3 being grand slams. Looking forward to first year of high school now.

who did she play for and how many games did they play ? 12 in a season is an enormous amount. for a 14u kid.

She played for Static 97, Kavin's team. They played 105 games this year.

Amber is a very strong hitter and fun to watch. Congrats to her and her happy dad :D

Well a couple really stuck out from a personal level....
  • DD had her first HR, which earned her $100, thanks chuck !
  • At Eastern Regionals, DD almost stole a HR from a Wolfpack player as she flipped over the outfield fence as the ball just glanced off her mitt
From a team perspective
  • Watching the team win 2 tournaments this year.
  • having all the girls return, must be doing something right !

Watching the ladies celebrate after the winning run crossed the plate to win the 16u Eastern Nationals. Every season up to this point was worth that moment.

The most crazy moment for me was at the 14u asa state tournament. Our team tied the pc-sting 0-0 , it was an amazing defensive game and as we are walking off the field the director comes up to us and says nice came but you get credit for a lose because of a tie breaker rule ! We tied with 1 runner each reach 3rd base but we lost because they had 4 runners to 2nd & we only had 2 ! I had never seen this before, as it turned out due to all the rain the pool play games were cancelled ,i would've taken that lose & our seeding over the blind draw we receiced ( Lasers blue & Classics in loosers bracket , ouch ).
The memory i wont forget is in an elimination game , last inning-6th ( due to time limit ) we are down 8-6 2-outs runners on 2nd & 3rd our 9th batter is up ( she has been struggling hitting all year ) she has zero confidence & honestly i was hoping for a walk. With full count she swings late & drives the ball to right & ties the game ! I was so happy for that girl , i had tears in my eyes while i high-fived her & she is smiling ear to ear ! we ended up winning in ITB 11-9 . This player finished the year with a ton of confidence !!!

-seeing a player go from the bench to become the go-to person
-watching a player hit a homerun over the fence in the opening tournament and closing tournament
-watching a player only make 1 error all year
-watching the true evolution of a team from start to finish... all so wonderful to watch this year
-winning the ASA-A Eastern Nationals
-watching each and ever player conquer their weaknesses and executing time and time again

She had this scenario happen to her twice this year. But I would have to say that at Nationals it was a bigger stage and better feeling after being down 8-0. Although the first left center gapper to win the game was at Lasers so that was a big stage as well. She will be missed and she will do well at 13u.

Thanks buddie, that game you mentioned at the Lasers nation tourney was also a blast. It was fathers day, she pitched a great game against a tough team and then got that big triple. That was another awesome:yahoo:day. We already miss u guys and are now searching for a new team to go up to 14u with. I can also say your DD had some of those huge moments that we will always remember! All the girls on the team had them. That what makes it so cool!

I have several memories of this year. A consistent one is watching our dd consistently knocking in runs when she came up with RISP. Our stat guy pulled me aside one day, and told me she was hitting nearly .500 with RISP. She was pitching at nationals, against a team that was a favorite to win the whole thing. Both teams had played a common team, we lost 15-0, while the tourney gavorite beat them 5-1. It was DD's turn to pitch. A couple of early miscue's led them them scoring 5 runs early, but then the dfense picked up and the dd shut them down. DD came up in the last at bat with the bases loaded and knocked in the team's first two runs, and but the rally just fell short. It was inspiring to watch her perform this summer under pressure of a tight situation repeatedly.

I have a pretty cool moment that sticks in my head:

We lost a very good game 6-5, and I am sitting on the bench (with my head down) reflecting, as my 98's are packing their stuff. My starting catcher sits down next to me, looks me in the eye and says "it's ok coach, we"ll get em tomorrow" and then patted me on top of my head. Total "life-saver" moment. BTW, we won the tournament.

After finishing 3rd in our first tourney, than finishing 2nd 6 straight times, they finally won one! The girls had to be told that they had won, I'm not sure they believed it. The look of relief in there eyes was priceless.
