There is a lot of talent in this program. I believe that a knowledgeable coach who can communicate and is willing to do more than simply show up at practices and games will find himself or herself with a league championship within two or three years. My DD, who is a senior, may not get to glean those results, but I'd love to see the younger girls have a championship season or a decent run in the tournament before they graduate. If you know of any qualified individual who might be interested, please inform them of this Division I Ohio Capital Conference opportunity.

I know there are three sophomores that I keep trying to convince to transfer to TWHS. I gave up on getting CGS's daughter to transfer. ;D

Thanks for the encouraging words, tick. ?I believe that any new coach who shows a passion for the game will find himself or herself with a very supporting set of parents. ?I've been told by a Mount Vernon High School official who is in a position to help make it happen that the school is committed to giving the program long-term stability and visibility. ?I hope that a big step towards that goal can be taken this year by finding a committed and qualified coach. ?Wouldn't be fair to expect much for our DD, who graduates in 2006, but it would be fun to send her emails during her first year of Division III ball letting her know that after three years of lacking a true leader at the helm, the program is starting to find a strong platform. ?Lord knows there is enough talent in the area to have a great HS program. ?

you never know cgs, your dd can be a part of the beginning of something great for mt. vernon. the younger girls still rely on those older and with more experience to lead. i hope the school is as excited as the girls and parents. them improving their record or winning their conference would be great and progress. i am hoping they can go deep in the playoffs, i know they can, it's just putting it all together. now they all need to stay healthy and heal quickly(kaitlin).

I agree ,...without solid pitching instruction at an early age .(And that means local fastpitch rec ball ) you will struggle at the upper levels to have consistent play yr after yr .

Sure you may end up with an occasional good pitcher ,..but we all know it takes a couple horses to pull the wagon .

Well, while I totally support your effort to get some of the local resources applied to the fastpitch effort, I don't think that you will find the local rec league actually producing many pitchers. ?They generally come from private pitching instructors and extensive ?travel ball experience. ?And while the extra games close to home during the week would be nice for the developing pitchers, most are going to find those opportunities whether or not there is a local league. ?Between them, Anneke and Kaitlin have played mid-week games in the Heath League, the GCGC, and the Richland County high school league. ?And in the off-season, they've played fall ball, GFOD indoor ball and Playmaker indoor ball. ?And both take private lessons. ?Bailee has similar experience. ?A committed pitcher will find opportunities to pitch. ?

Local fast pitch opportunities might help more girls to identify the fact that they wish to pitch, and it will certainly ?help the other positions getting more opportunities to hit against fast pitch pitches. ?So as I said, I'm all for your project of brining rec fast-pitch to Mount Vernon.

No i don't know who applied. ?M.M. that I was referring to is better known as Mickey Mouse! ? ;D

I have only heard of three people that applied. ?One is a mvhs teacher and football/baseball coach, one was an mvhs assistant varsity softball coach and the other was an assistant at Dublin Scioto. ?That is all the info I have been able to find out! ?Sorry!

Actually, the third one was not an assistant coach at Dublin Scioto. He has been a head coach for a state-wide travel organization (16's). Although not an assistant to Todd Bright at Dublin Scioto, Todd Bright has mentored this individual with respect to fastpitch coaching and this individual did coach a winter indoor team that had some Dublin Scioto players, making it impossible for Todd Bright to coach the team.
