Why does Mt Vernon always seem so secretive and sluggish,..... when it comes to any decision about fastpitch ?

Regardless if its high school or rec. ball this community is fastpitch frozen.

Where the heck is the leadership ? If you want fastpitch in this community to catch fire ,...you have to keep those interested informed !

Send me a private message with your phone number and I'll be happy to call you to tell you the efforts that have been made by various individuals to "lead" Mount Vernon to the fastpitch land.

I tried to send pers. message but it was returned.

I would love to hear the progress on the high school and rec league fastpitch programs.
Im sure that there are many working hard behind the scenes,....but why not capitalize and use all the resources available ,...(I mean people ,.. all the families interested in fastpitch)

If Mt Vernon truely wants a healthy fastpitch program then it needs to call a meeting of all interested parties and begin to get this thing in order .

Where there is no direction stated ,... there is no direction taken.
Its time to harness the horse and plow the ground ,...there are many standing by ,...waiting for the go ahead to see this through.

It seems the leadership does not want the community invoved in any decision making at all ,..afraid they may lose the throne of all decisions .

Heres my Cell # - 740-398-4963

If by "leadership" you are referring to the existing rec league leadership, I'm certainly not going to disagree with your statement.

From what I remember, the leadership has their minds set, and they don't want to change. We tried several years ago and ended up forming our own teams that played in the Richland County league.

Nice thing about it was that there was no period of waiting for pitchers to learn how to pitch. Also, that league was a strong league--especially in 18U. Lots of talented players. The downside was traveling to faraway places to play games--sometimes cancelled because of rain.

Carisa Grove is the new varsity coach at Mount Vernon. Offer, which was accepted in late September, has finally been approved by the Board.

Carisa was captain of the softball team at Heidelberg (in Tiffin) her senior year (2003), where she played under her maiden name Carisa Frysinger. She caught for Heidelberg. I believe she was very active in travel ball and that her father has a lot of coaching experience.

In any event, even before she was approved by the Board, Carisa has had an impact (with the able assistance of Coach Lynn Apple, I'm sure). Mount Vernon will be playing in the Gahanna and Pickerington North tournaments this year. The team has not participated in any HS tournaments for the last three years. And she already has three scrimmages scheduled. I highly doubt that this coach is going to place the team in the awkward position of last year, when the first time the infield was together on dirt was the team's first regular season game.
