Just recieved a call from Coach Rob who had a long day at the park after a severe rain delay. Our Static 18U College Exposure team opened up play at Music City Hits today against the Louisville Sluggers Gold who have 5 D1 players going to IU, Kentucky, Murray State, Kent State, & Valpo. Our 18U team put together a very strong game beating the Sluggers 3 -0 in a very well played game where small ball was king w/ several bunts plays which contributed to every run. Rob told me they play at 9 a.m. & early afternoon tomorrow for their next 2 games. I didn't get the details on who they are scheduled to play. As soon as I get updates from Rob I will post them.

Thanks Fun&Fun & MD. I could tell by Coach Rob's voice he was super excited - He was trying to eat a taco on the way to the hotel while talking to me & almost choked a few times :)

Great win. Hope there were college coaches there to see it. Let us know what Rob reports about that, as there has been some speculation that D1 college coaches don't put as much effort into attending 18u exposure events as 16u events. As I said, that's just speculation and I at least would love to get more data on whether that is correct.

Rob mentioned last night that there was a handful of coaches watching the game before the long rain delay. After the delay, the did not come back. One DI coach (Murray State) was present B4 the delay but might have been there to watch his signee from the Sluggers.

Rob just called, the picture is not as rosy as last night's as the defense had quite a few bumps in the road today as the Static 18U lost to the TN Athletics 8-3.

They play again at 2:15 today against Georgia Elite who in Rob's estimation is as good as if not better than the Slugger's Gold. Go get'em Static.

Even though this is an 18U thread, I also wanted to pass a long that our 16U (Coach Dennis) is at the same event & posted a 1 - 1 record last night. Don't know the details but both games were very good battles. I believe they are playing their third game as I am typing.

More updates later as I get them.

What a great tournament and environment with the CMA week going on too. It was a fun event last year right after the floods there and one of the most pleasant places ever to visit. Those A's knocked us out last year after we were up on them until the last inning.....

Great event that others should do if they can...

Good luck!

Being on the back end of recruiting I can tell you they do.

The Static 18U gets to the championship game and then the tournament is cancelled due to rain. Disappointing but congrats to Rob and the team.

Static 18U was awaiting to play the winner of the other semi final game which never happened due to rain. I think the raw deal was that the TD decided there was no winner (not even a coin flip) so no awards were handed out!!!! At a minimum, do a coin flip to decide 1st & 2nd place. The girls on each team worked their butts off to get to that point - so reward them for their play - I guess they will keep those awards & change the name plate to say 2012 for next yr?
