After their senior year in high school and prior to enrolling in a participating NCAA school.

Uh, if they are looking at scholarship schools, they should get their ID no later than the spring of their junior year.

They cannot be offered $ their senior year if they don't have an ID.

The sooner you get it the better! it takes a while to get everything cleared with them. My DD has a girl on her college team that can not play because she was not cleared even after she got to school. So I say the sooner the better. I started doing work in Nov. of my DD sr yr. I still did not have everything cleared by June. You have to get final transcript sent... Very tideous process!

with my dd we did everything we could in her junior year and then you sit and wait.
after she graduated it said she needed her final transcript. the high school sent them
in June, i checked in Mid july they still had not received it. She had to be at college Aug 15
and it took sending it again 2 more times (both Air) for it to finally get done. very fustrating. They said they didn't get the one from school, and i have proof they signed for the first one i sent air but they don't know what happened to it. finally i sent it direct to a certain person who made sure they got it.

Make sure you check it to make sure it gets done.

We were at the mercy of the high school. Seems that it was more convenient for them to send ALL the athlete's transcripts in all at once, REGARDLESS of how early you actually registered. We kept waiting... and waiting... It was frustrating because it looks like YOU are the one not getting things done. Fortunately, it didn't affect anything in the long run and everything worked out. But it sure was stressful!
