New members for NWO Softball Hall of Fame

Mark Hamann, former head coach coach at Anthony Wayne and Perrysburg High Schools has been elected to the NWO Softball Hall of Fame. Mark won a State Championship at Perrysburg as well as 8 NLL Championships, 8 Sectional titles, 3 District Runner Ups, 4 District titles, one Regional semi finalist, 3 Regional Champsiohips and one State Runner-up. His record at Perrysburg was 277-89. As assistant coach at Anthony Wayne, they also won a State Championship.

Duane Lanham also has been elected to the Hall of Fame. Duane is the Owens College Coach and former Southview High School head coach. Duane's Owens team won the OCCAC league championship in 2005,06,07,08 and 2009. His collegiate record is 177-95-1.

Anthony Palumbo of Perrysburg was instrumental in the development of the SGS fastpitch league from 1983-1987 and has been involved in softball for 37 years. Tony will be inducted with Mark and Duane.

Existing members of the Hall of Fame are Laurie Wagner, John Farley (both deceased); Bill Beckham, founder of the SGS Magic; Ralph Kreidel, founding father of the SGS League; Shirley and Walter (Skeeter) Severhof, founders and directors of the NWO Lady Irish fastpitch program and Audrey Palumbo, administrator of the original founding group of the SGS fastpitch league.

Mark and Anthony will be inducted this Sunday, March 7, at 1:00 at the Wizard World Softball Training Facility. All are invited to attend with an RSVP to Martin Drain, Fast2home@yahoo.com. Duane will also be inducted but cannot make it to his college softball commitment. Ceremonies for Duane will be announced at a later date.
