New Section Proposal

To the adm, please consider adding a section under the softball opportunities area, where players can post links to their recruiting videos.
It can be fairly simple, doesn't have to be subcategorized, etc.
For example:

Susan J Player, 2018 grad, LHP, www.youtube.susanplayer.blahblah

Thoughts?

Well, seeing how much fuss it was making DD's video, and seeing the traffic this site sees, and not knowing if/how often college coaches ever come on these sites...you never know. I guess it's a way to network-database.

Make a list of the schools that are what you want academically. Write a letter to/call/e-mail the coach expressing you rinterest in the school and their softball program. Include a link to your Skills Video that's in The Cloud.

Couldn't agree with you more Louuuuu. I doubt anyone who invests the time and $$$ making one of these videos isn't naive enough to think his DD will be "discovered."
Btw, DD is already committed. I'm just thinking about all the other 100's of players who aren't yet. So in addition to a letter/call/email, its just another tool one can use.

No Haters its only for posting only. If someone try to post a hater reply we would delete

Agree that it should only be a section for players to post videos for exposure and it would have the additional benefit of helping others on how to create such videos in the future. While I'm not a moderator, I am obviously on here frequently and I will help police it.

Might want to consider a time-limit on how long the profiles will be posted. If you have videos posted on your server, that will eat up a lot of storage space. Also, the girls should be updating their profiles/videos at least annually.

I would recommend that you delete all profiles and videos on September 1st and then allow the girls to post updated profiles and videos for the next year.

That's a good thought, unless the videos are on youtube, and whats on the OFC server is just a link with a thumbnail

I'm not so sure... Some of these people are the same one's who ask "What college coaches will be at Showcase X?" on OFC. If you were communicating with your list of colleges, you would know the answer - and you wouldn't care who else was there.

I'm not sure if I like this idea or not. Since I'm not sure any or many colleges will get on OFC to look at recruiting videos. So I say put them on YouTube, email the video link to the coaches of schools you are interested in along with your profile, and a personalized email of why you want to attend their University.

Now if your intent is just to show your daughters skills to the other OFC members ok, but if it's for the recruiting I don't think it has that much value.

Yes college coaches are very very busy and probably don't have the time to go to some softball forum and scroll through thumbnails of kids hoping to play at the
next level. Maybe there is no value in it, maybe there is. It is a tool, a networking tool that in my opinion cannot be a bad thing, unless, of course, it is used for other reasons, such as one travel ball organization coach seeing a video and using it as a poaching tool. But that hardly happens here in Ohio, so...

Mike that was another reason why I wasn't sure it was a good idea. Also I did not say it was a bad thing just not sure how much value.

But since we never had this section in the forum I don't want to judge the outcome of what this section can or can't do to help a player.

We have more College Coaches and upcoming College Coaches assistance that are members of the forum. Then most Showcase events have in attendance on a given weekend.

So why wouldn't you want to post your DD profile and videos in the new section is my question? Plus no one except Charles OFC (IT) guy and myself are aware of what in the development stage at this time for (OFC).

Ricky I know for a fact some do frequent this site,I just think there are better ways to market your daughter'. Just a opinion. My concerns would be that people might post stupid stuff and use it in ways it's not intended for. I know you said you would not allow that but it has been allowed in in the past or not seen by you. Again this is just my thoughts. No it will not hurt just trying to help people and present some possible things that could happen.
