I don't know this for sure, but I think you will find that the Lasers Blue are still the Lasers Blue. One thing nice about the Lasers organization is that they are deep in talent. They draw great talent at their tryouts. I wouldn't be surprised if this team comes out stronger than before.

No matter what happens with the three teams, it is always a tramatic situation when there is this type of break up. It is probably best not to "air dirty laundry" on this forum. There are always two sides of the story (sometimes many more sides). Only those involved have a chance at knowing the whole situation. It doesn't pay for those not involved to know anything about this situation as it will only be part of the whole story.

Now, if you have a daughter who has been offered a spot on the Lasers Blue team, then maybe you should go straight to the head of the Laser organization and have a good talk with him before your daughter makes her decision. I met him recently--great guy with a great attitude. He is definitely there for the players.

We are one of the five families who has chosen not to return to the Laser Blue team next year. Please know that no one from the Laser organization nor the Laser Blue team has spoken with us regarding our reasons for choosing a different direction next year. If anyone says otherwise, it is simply not true. It was just not a good fit for our daughter or our family. We do not feel as if we have done anything wrong in choosing not to return to that particular team. I wish everyone on this forum would just let it go... :(

If everyone that played fastpitch softball never switched teams there would be no need for tryouts!! ?Face the facts, fastpitch softball is very competitive, and sometimes players, organizations, and mostly PARENTS do not see eye to eye. ?You are under no contract and have the option each year to go play for another team.

The biggest problem with travel softball is that you go to the tryout, with 20-100 other girls. ?The coach calls you up and offers you a spot, Yippee I made the team!!! ?Then you realize that you have no clue as to who the other girls are on your team are, its not like your school team that has all you friends on it. ?Once you get passed that, you have 10-12 families that no nothing about each other, spending possibly the next 6 or more months together!!

The point I'm trying to make is that it is impossible to take all these factors that arise and put a team on the field that is in complete harmony. ?The teams(players, coaches, and parents) that can adapt to these situations are the teams that stay together year after year and look forward to the next year.

All this bickering and bashing can be what we call travel ball. ?These are some great people and some great organizations that for some reason can't see eye to eye. ?Therefore we have the need for TRYOUTS!! ;D

In closing, if parents would take a little more time at tryouts and walk around and talk to some of the other people at the tryouts you would get a better idea of the people you'll be hanging around with all summer!! ?TRYOUTS are not just for the players!!!

"Rumor" has it the 15u Laser Blue had to combine with !6u players????????? Any truth to this????????? Coach with a great attitude who tells players and parents what their roles will be, then does exactly the opposite. This was clearly a case of "the squeaky wheel gets greased". I've been there, have seen it, and glad it's over!!!!!!!!!

A few years ago, our family also was part of the Lasers team coached by Leon Hilty that is currently ``under fire.''
We left, but it had nothing to do with how Leon ran the team, handled the players, etc. Leon was extra giving, extra considerate to ALL. I would let any of my kids play for Leon Hilty at any time, any place!!
The reason my daughter chose to leave the team -- see the above posts. The parents acted worse than any group of spoiled preschoolers we've ever seen. She simply did not wish to be in the atmosphere all the negativity was creating.
Good luck and God bless you Coach Leon Hilty and his squad.
BTW, how many coaches in this era of rampant daddyball do NOT have a daughter on a team they are coaching? Leon doesn't, yet he poured his time, energy and money into promoting these young ladies.

Why don't you tell us about a time when dad's were not coaches. Maybe in a fairy tale.

Homer -- there's a few veteran highly-respected coaches who lead strong teams and don't have a daughter on the team -- Ron Poole, Leon Hilty, Joe Abraham, Jerry Goodpasture and Jim Miller to name just a few --
And there are dad's who are teachers/coaches focused on improving all the kids.
And then there are dads in it only for daddyball, focused only on DD.
The only fairy tale here is the daddyball coaches who think they are doing their DD a favor by protecting her status in the world of softball--a guarantee for failure

Since we seem to be in rumor mode, it's time for this thread to end...
