3rd Annual Mid-Ohio Shootout - May 2-3, 2015.
River Valley Baseball For Youth Sports Complex - Marion 43302.

Returning for the 3rd season is the NSA Mid-Ohio Shootout. This event will kick off the new Ohio NSA Scholarship weekends. One player will be randomly selected to receive a $250 college scholarship. The funds will be sent to the NSA National Office to be held and the player does not have to play softball in college to receive the funds. NSA - 2015 WSQ event open to:
8u-coach pitch - One day Saturday only event - preferred format is 2 pool into a single-elimination bracket - 6 teams max. 8u teams should plan for a 9 AM start.
10u & 12u - 5 game format - preferred format is 4 pool games into a single-elimination bracket, weather permitting. 10u/12u teams should plan for a 8:30 AM start.

Entry fee is $200 for 8u and $300 for 10u & 12u. Please also enclose $25 NSA 2014-15 sanction fee if not already sanctioned. We will accept $100 deposits if you need to hold spots. Balance is due April 2, 2015. If you need to sanction for 2015, please click here: NSA Team Sanction Page.

Hi Mike,

I'm sorry, but the Central Ohio Lady Vipers 03 are backing out of the tournament. We were invited to play in Toledo with some of the top teams in the 03 class and my parents and players would rather take this route. It has nothing to do with your tournament. In fact, you run some of the best tournaments that we have been in. I appreciate everything that you do.

***REDUCED ENTRY FEE*** Ohio NSA has listened to the teams and reduced the price for this event to $300 for 10u/12u and $200 for 8u-cp. Still the same format, same scholarship weekend, same excellent facility, same strong officials, same solid award package, same NSA qualifier, just now for $300/$200.

And teams that have paid the original entry fees, a refund check for the difference between the original price and the reduced price will be sent out. If you have sent $100 deposits, please only forward $200 additional when you send in the balance.

Mike-if the bat has an NSA approved stamp but not NSA 2012, is it illegal?

It must have the NSA 2012 stamp to be used in NSA play. There are no grandfathered bats nor other logos accepted. This is nothing new as it was approved in 2011 and put in the rulebooks that same season.

Here is what was posted back in September 2014 at the top of this forum:

SECOND NOTE: There is an equipment standard that was announced in the fall of 2011 that becomes official also on 1/1/15. This is in Rule 3, sec 1-G under equipment; Bats manufactured after 1/1/2012 must also bear the NSA Approved 2012 logo on the taper of the bat. There is an image of the logo below:

This will replace the approved list. There is no grandfathering of bats prior to 2012. All bats eligible for NSA play must have the 2012 silkscreen on them.

No problem, I just didn't want my daughter using a bat that will get her and her coach ejected, last year NSA tournaments it wasn't an issue...guess it's time to go NSA bat shopping!

Each link is the age group listing on Play NSA. Please click on the attachment to download the pool/bracket times. There are also links for 2015 Ohio NSA tournament rules along with directions to the complex. Please make sure to READ the IMPORTANT information on the Play NSA online registration page and also on the Pool/Bracket. You will also find important information to review regarding the event along with complex rules. There is also a complex map of the fields on this page. For all intents and purposes, we are using the 2 fields to the left of the complex entrance for 8u and the 4 fields to the right of the concession stand for 10u/12u. There is adequate shade and parking for those fields along with bleachers for fans and parents to sit on. Event results will be posted to this page as well once the event is completed.

REMINDER: Coach/Manager MUST CHECK in Prior to your first GAME with Official NSA Online Roster and Insurance Certificate. Please bring a copy of Roster & Insurance FOR EVERY NSA EVENT THAT YOU PARTICIPATE IN, to leave with the Tournament Director. Event check-in will be at the pavilion to the left of the concession stand. This is also where game updates will be posted along with tournament staff to assist. In the event that you have a refund check coming from the reduction of entry fees, this is also where you can pick it up.

ROSTER: PLEASE FILL OUT THE NSA ONLINE ROSTER IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO.
All teams MUST have an Official NSA ONLINE roster, filled out, and printed with player and parents signatures. BRING A SIGNED COPY TO LEAVE AT TOURNAMENT SITE. THIS COPY of the SIGNED ONLINE ROSTER WILL NOT BE RETURNED TO YOU. Teams will not be allowed to participate without it.

INSURANCE: All teams must have "TEAM INSURANCE CERTIFICATE" with amounts of coverage. BRING A COPY TO LEAVE AT TOURNAMENT SITE. We cannot accept the individual player insurance cards. IF you have individual insurance cards, you will need to contact the insurance company to attain a certificate. THE COPY of the INSURANCE CERTIFICATE WILL NOT BE RETURNED TO YOU. Teams will not be allowed to participate with it.

BATS: Only NSA approved bats will be allowed. Check the National Web site for a complete and up to date listing of approved bat companies. www.playnsa.com Click on: Approved Equipment ? Bats must also have the 2012 NSA silkscreen on them. Bats without that logo are not permitted to be used. Note: It is the coaches/players' responsibility to check their bat(s) to the list prior to bringing them into play. Penalty: Player is declared an OUT - PLAYER AND COACH are EJECTED FROM THE GAME.
It is the coach/managers responsibility to know the rules and bylaws of NSA. NO METAL CLEATS for 10u & 12u teams. Ignorance of a rule or bylaw does not negate the penalty. NSA rule book is available online 24/7 at www.playnsa.com. Weather update information during the event will be provided by the onsite tournament director. Call 614-895-2253 after 6 AM if inclement weather could be an issue to start the event.

Housing option for the event is available at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott 740-389-6636. They are offering rooms for $99/109 which includes free breakfast. Here is a link to the website: Fairfield Inn by Marriott. It is not mandatory to stay here to participate in the event. The Fairfield Inn is located approximately less than 3 miles from the complex and is near several restaurants in the Marion area.

Parking fees will be charged at this tournament. I am mailing 2 tournament parking passes to the coach of record. RVBFY will charge all cars pulling into the complex a fee to park. This is nothing the NSA has any control over nor profits from. RVFBY does allow campers. There is a charge of $25 each and the coaches pass will not cover this fee.
